Marlene, There is a Tank Body O-ring that goes between the body and lid and then is secured by the Lock Nut.

I have the CFR 100. When my pump came on this morning it blew this lock nut apart. The system is at least 10 years old...probably closer to 20. Anyway, there is an O-Ring on the body, but I do not see any other gasket in the cover or the body. Is the lock Nut all that I need to get the unit back on line? Thanks. FM

As long as this is the only item damaged then that is all you would need. Please inspect the lid, and the body for any cracks. You may also want be sure that that lid o-ring is not stretched, cracking or bleeding. Lastly please make sure that the system is set up correctly by gallons per minute ratings between the pump and filter. If the pump is too strong for the filter, that potentialy could have caused that ring to be blown off.

I cannot figure out how to open the yellow Lock Nut on a Jacuzzi filter. It is an older filter and I cannot get the top off. I pulled, twisted, pried and am about to resort to a hammer attack. Is there a trick . I do not want to break the lock. Help Too dark for pictures.

Hi, Betty. Depress the locking tab. Then, using both hands, grasp the large locking ring at the top of the filter and rotate counter-clockwise. Continue to rotate until the ring is free of the filter and set aside

I assume that the above lock nut is compatible with my CFR 100 (see label attached) Is this lock nut a different size than one compatible with a jacuzzi cartridge filter made 1988 or earlier Thanks

There does not appear to be a different style of locknut depending on the manufacture date of the filter.

Does this locking nut fit the Jacuzzi EW 36 DE filter. It is about 20 years old and works fine. I cannot unscrew the old one. I believe it was tightened to far. Also how do I get the old one off without damaging the filter itself?

Hi William, this will not fit your Jacuzzi Sherlock Cartridge Filter.  You probably want this Filter Nut - 42367102R000 instead.
