Hello Wendy - This unit is not compatible with soft-sided above ground pools.

Do you have one for a soft sided pool?

Hi Wendy, Our Floating Salt Chlorine Generator can be used on a soft sided pool.

Is this all that is required to convert to salt chlorination? How many lbs of salt is needed for 17,000 gal pool? Is this compatible with Hayward sand pumps?
Reply
Hi Colleen, The Chlorease Ultra By SmartPool is compatible with a Hayward sand filter and pump as long as it is not stainless steel. The system come with everything that is needed for installation minus tools. I would recommend getting your water tested, they will tell you how much salt is needed base on your current level.

Will this work on a 14,000 gal pool?

Hi Don, This unit will be sufficient enough for a 14,000 gal above ground pool.

Do you need a pump to circulate the water? My pool is only 1100 gallons and free standing.
Reply
Hello Heather - This CL02 system does not necessarily need a pump because it works independently. However, we strongly recommend using a pump and filter for any pool.

my pool is a 28x52 will this system work with my pool
Reply
Hi Angie, The Chlorease is designed for pools up to 18,000 gallons and your 28' round pool is roughly 18,000 gallons so you are right at the upper limits of this salt system.

Hello. Is this unit compatible with intex ultra frame pool 18' x 48"? I will be using and intex sand filter. Thank you .

Terri, Unfortunately, this will not work with Intex pools.

We installed a PermaSalt system with our new pool this year- HATE IT!! Our old salt system kept the pool clean and sparkling. This is a pain with chemicals to add every two weeks. Could we add salt and the Cholrease Ultra to the pool - will they conflict? Can I just turn off the Perma Salt? It was a bad, costly mistake and we're trying to go back to salt without spending too much more money or having to rework all the plumbing.
Reply
Gail, If you want to convert to a salt system, I would recommend removing the PermaSalt system.

what is the life expectancy of this generator. Is there a max it will generate before the cell needs replace? Is there cleaning/maintenance that needs to be done?
Reply
Hi Jennifer, The life expectancy of this unit varies, the daily run time, chlorination output and the quality of maintenance are all determining factors on how long this system will last. The longer the run time and the higher the output the shorter the life.

I have one of these units, love it! However, the manual isn't very clear as to what the numbers that read on the display represent. Can you offer any information?
Reply
Hello Sam, I would contact Smartpool 732-730-9880 to see what type of numbers displayed, unfortunately we only have what the manual has.

Hi, Jose. This Chlorine Generator works separately from your pool filtration system.

Hi. The manufacturer warns against it.

My pool is 24 x 52 round Will it be sufficient and how much salt would I need?
Reply
I'm quite interested in this system: does this work like a 'typical' salt system, where I dump salt in the pool and this produces chlorine from it? Has it been reliable - and does this make chemical treatment easier? AKA - will this be easier than using chorine shock, and pucks in floaters?
Reply
Hi Brian, Yes you are correct you would add salt to your pool and then this system creates chlorine. This system has been reliable as long as you clean the chlorinator and your pool is not on the very upper limits of its capacity. For example I would use this salt system as long as your pool is not larger than 12,000 gallons. The specs. say 18,000 gallons but if you have a pool larger than 12,000 gallons then I would suggest something like the PureLine Crystal Pure ABG 20,000 Gallon Salt System. I have a salt system on my pool and it is much easier than using traditional chlorine tablets and shock.
