Can you put a plug on the power supply and plug it into a timer or does this need to be hardwired in? I don't want to void my warranty.

Hi Adrianne, This unit is set to be hardwired, but if you use a power cord it will not void the warranty if it's done by a professional.

The salt system equipment is all you need to install, but you will need to purchase locally and add salt to your water.

Hi, Rudi. This unit electrode does need to be replaced if it fails, we do not have replacements parts but they are available through the manufacturer.

Hi, No this system is not self-cleaning. The last page of this Saltron Reliant Owner's Manual gives the details on how to clean the cell.

I don't see a digital display for salt levels on this unit. How would I read on my salt level?

Hi, Kay. The system has a Low Salt LED indication icon that will illuminate, otherwise to get an actual reading, you will have to test the water.

Do you think the Saltron is equal quality as Hayward. What country is it made?

Hi Joe, In our experience, the Saltron is every bit as good as the Hayward. I beleive the Power Supply is made in China and the titanium cell blades are from the USA.
