Is there a 2.5 hp whisperflow that will get me closer to the mark?
Reply
Hello ken- No there is not, the WFE-8 Pentair Whisperflo Energy Efficient 2 HP Full Rate has a total HP of 2.6. Really your only options when it comes to the whisperflo pumps are the WFE-12 and WFE-8 as I previously mentioned. You could go with a Hayward TriStar 2 HP, Energy Efficient, Full Rated Pump - SP3220EE.

I have a 2hp Hayward Pool pump model # SP4020NS and want to buy a Wisperflow. What model, HP GPM Whisperflow would you recommend. Thank you very much
Reply
Hello Ken- Based off your current model pump at 40 feet of head, you are pushing about 157 gallons per minute (GPM). If you decide to go with the whisperflo you will be in between two models. The Pentair Whisperflo Energy Efficient 2 HP Full Rate - WFE-8 will deliver about 140 gpm and the Pentair Whisperflo Energy Efficient 3 HP Full Rate - WFE-12 will deliver 170-180 gpm.

I have a Hayward Northstar pool pump (1998-2007) with a single speed, 2 HP motor (SPX1620Z1BNS). What is the recommended replacement pump (housing, motor, etc.) for this discontinued pump? Please include a list of any connector and other items that will be needed to attach the new pump where the old pump was set up.

I would best suggest reviewing the Hayward Tri-Star or The EcoStar Variable Speed pumps click here to view. The GPM on The TriStar is slightly different than the NorthStar. When choosing the TriStar by Horsepower, you will need to to refer to your Filter's suggested Flow Design Rate. If you already have a 2hp NorthStar you would want to review the Hayward TriStar 2 HP, Full Rated Pump PART#SP3220EE click here to view. Or the Hayward TriStar 1-1/2 HP, Full Rated Pump PART#SP3215EE click here to view. Higher Flow rates can allow for stepping down in pump horsepower compared to less efficient pump models. The pumps include a 2"x2- 1/2" union connector kit. The EcoStar is your most energy efficient option, controlling pump output gallons per minute by adjusting the RPM on the integrated controller.

what pump is available to replace the Northstar IS4007-04? Thanks for your help.

I have a Hayward NorthStar that I am looking to replace. The only one's I see all have a threaded union connection. Do you still carry the one with the Quad lock?
Reply
Unfortunately Hayward discontinued the Quad Lock design on the NorthStar pump models in 2007. The housing on the newer pumps is a threaded design and re-plumbing would be necessary.

(5 out of 5 stars) Great pump for older pool w/ smaller lines
Reviewed By: Boomer from Washington (St. Louis area) Missouri ()
Pros: Quite and pumps as well as Hayward Super
Cons: Big: Make sure you have enough room to install
Was looking to upgrade my pump after 40 years(Had rebuilt the old Hayward a couple times and case was starting to have broken edges). Chose the Northstar series for its newer features. Wanted higher pressure, but learned that would probably blow my lines. Really like this pump.
