What is difference between aquabug 500 from w3500? I know price is more for 3500 model. What are differences? Thx for the help !!!!
Hayward indicates that they are the same product the Aquabug 500 and the Hayward Automatic Swimming Pool Cleaner Aquabug - W3500 are the same cleaner.
Hello. I need a set of wings (part V510-L) and shoes for an Aquabug 500. I've found that the parts for the newer model Aquabug are not all interchangeable. Do you have these parts in stock? Thank you.
Thank you for your quick response. I ordered the shoes. Do you know how I would special order part #AXV552ORP? If so, do you know the cost? Thank you.
How can you tell if the feet on your aqua bug need replacing? They feel real sticky the shoes that I have on it.
Also, the throat seems real brittle and breaks in pieces when I try to remove it--would that cause it not to move when it is in the pool or is it mote of a problem with the shoes?
Is this cleaner OK to use in an In-Ground 21,000 gallon pool with lots of leaves?
I bought an aquabug at a yard sale the seller told me it worked, it does have a suck up trash but it doesn't move, this is the first time I've ever tried something like this, is it supposed to move on its own? Does it take batteries to cause it to move?
Hi, Stacey. This unit works off the suction created through the skimmer. It will move by itself once it has the proper amount of suction.
On the Hayward critter, diver, lady bug and whale what is the difference beteen the heads
Hi Lori, The only difference is the character on the head of the cleaner. The performance and internal mechanical parts are all the same.
Our bug has been rolling on its side during operation. What would cause this to happen?? Also it seems at times he is moving too fast...
Where do order parts from? I missing the part on the bottom that flaps (it just snaps on) it wiggles when it is in motion.
I have a Zodiak 24' AGPool and a 1 1/2 HP motor with 150 SF pleaded filter.....do I use full vacuum or should I reduce it with your fitting designed for this ? I am using an Aquabug 500....WHY must I remove it from the pool ? I have it set for 5 hours twice a day...I dont ever take it out and they last 2 years MAX,,,is that why the short life ?....Thank You...
Hi, William. The unit will come with a suction meter to make sure you set the correct amount of suction. Removing the unit from the pool will prolong the life of the cleaner.
bug goes in small circles and will not cover pool, I put on new feet and new rollers inside and cleaned filters .Still no good
Do you have any internal gears for the Hayward 500 Y ?
After reading that you can use the Aqua Bug in a salt pool, will it rust or corrode if doing so?
Hi Shawn, No the AquaBug would not rust or corrode in a salt pool. Salt pools are maintained at a low salt level of 3,000 PPM vs. Ocean water which is roughly 50,000 PPM of salt, so in our experience we have never had an AquaBug rust in a salt pool. Also roughly 95% of the components on the cleaner are plastic.
I hve an aqua bug and three of the spindles and their center piece are we missing on the bottom. Are these parts replacable.
What would cause product to not move by itself?
Malinda, The Hayward Aquabug MODEL#500 could have several issues that cause it not to move by itself. I would begin with checking the filter to see if it is dirty and not allowing enough suction. I would then take the unit out of the water and check the moving parts such as the "A-Frame" and "turbine" to ensure that it is working properly. Then I would check your hoses to make sure you don't have any leaks.
How long will it take to completely clean a 28' round pool?
Tom, The length of time it will take to clean greatly depends on how dirty the pool is and the strength of the pump and filter. I would say on relatively clean pool , 2-6 hours.
What do i put my sand filter on? backwash or filter when using this product.
(5 out of 5 stars) awesome bug. What it did was a miracle for us.

Pros: everything. I just love it.
Cons: it was 3 attachment hoses too short for my 33foot pool, expensive pieces but still very much worth it
this is a 20/20 for the money. I love it. It saves work and time ...easy hook up ...it cleans the bottom people, it even picked up a framing nail that had bounced off of a shooting framing gun into the pool without us knowing. just saved me a whole new liner. i cant say i love it enough. buy it forsure go ahead, dont delay. it is worth it for the money even if you use it one season....now I hope it lasts more than that. i am sure it will

I just got this, but disappointed. It does not work well with my 1000gph above ground pool pump. I'm not ready to shell out for a new pump, so since I can't return it here since I opened the box, its off to ebay.
(5 out of 5 stars) Good Investment and a BIG HELP

Pros: easy to use, easy to order replacement parts
Cons: not enough hose for longer above ground pools in order for it to work correctly.
I wore my first one of these out, ordered more hose and now am ordering a 2nd one. It doesn't come with quite enough hose, but with what comes with it and what I already have, we should be fine. Also replacement parts were easy to get like the feet and the flappers.

Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Have an updated skimmer.
Cute bug, but does it work. Out of the box ready. Just stick the tubes together, sink and waaa- la, She's sucking up the junk. Highly recomended for above ground pools.

Pros: Does a fast job cleaning the entire pool.
Cons: Scares the grandkids so we have to take it out when they come over to swim.
It arrived fast and went to work the same day on our pool. Works efficiently and does a great job cleaning the bottom of the entire pool. We have a deep end in our above ground pool and it doesn't get stuck in the deep end like our previous cleaner did.
