Hi. I am replacing a 3/4 hp pump for my 24X12 in ground pool that is 4ft deep(10K Gallons). The pump is 10ft from the pool. Would this pump be a good fit? Does it work with a 230v and 115v? I am looking for energy efficiency, something that is quiet and reliable. No heater and in Northern California. Thanks Jesse

Hi Jesse, so there are a number of variables to consider when sizing a pool pump. Here is a guide that we put together called "How to Size a Pool Pump for Your In-Ground Pool" that should assist. You may also want to consider having a CPC(certified pool contractor) perform a site evaluation as well.

I have a 18x36' poll with 3' shallow going to 8' deep end. We only can use 115 volts. Will this pomp work for our pool or what would you suggest?

Donna, This Pentair Whisperflo Dual Speed Full Rate 3/4 HP Pump will work for your pool.

Can this pump be set up to accept 230 volts or is it wired for 115 volt only? Does it have a switch on the back to control the speeds?

A  Answered on 11/17/2014 by InyoPools Product Specialist Robert M.

This pump can only run on 115 volt. It does come with a switch on the back to control the high and low speeds.

I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?

A  Answered on 2/16/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.

How does the dual speed feature of this pump work?

A  Answered on 6/15/2006 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Some dual speed pumps have a toggle switch in the back of the motor to change speeds manually, but many do not. Generally you would need to tie this dual speed pump into one of our dual speed pump timers/controllers. One of the more popular models is the Digital PE153 series. This timer has 3 functions: one to turn the pump on and off, a second auxiliary to switch from high speed to low speed, and then a third for any other piece of pool equipment. You may view these controllers through the following link: Intermatic Timers
