I rebuilt my pump last spring with a rebuild kit I purchased from you. My question is, does the motor itself need any lubrication?

A  Answered on 12/11/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

Hi Tim, the motors will not need any lubrication. Just some of the seals.

A follow-on to the already answer question of this WFDS-26 vs the Uprated WFDS-4. Yes both are 1.65 actual HP. But Pentair make both - there must be a reason to do that??? and this one is $50 more too. Can't believe any manufacturer would make both unless there were some difference... So what is the difference? Is one better in some situations? Better longevity?

A  Answered on 4/22/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Mike, There is absolutely no difference in the two, crazy right! Starting in July 2021 federal law is mandating a uniform HP standard called True HP or THP which will be the HP multiplied by Service Factor which gives the True HP of a motor.

What is the difference in a wfds 26 and a wfds 6?

A  Answered on 4/21/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Matt S.

The WFDS26 is uprated, while the WFDS6 is the fullrated version. The total HP of a motor is calculated by multiplying the listed HP with the Service Factor. A service factor is 1.25 and below is Uprated and one above 1.3 is Fullrated.

I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?

A  Answered on 2/16/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.

Does this pump come with a toggle switch? If not, How do I switch from high & low speeds?

A  Answered on 9/4/2008 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

We spoke with Pentair and their Whisperflo pumps do not come with a toggle switch. If you already have a timer your best bet would be to add the T106R timer. This would wire into your existing timer, your existing timer would turn the pump on and off and the T106 would switch from High Speed to Low Speed. Here is the wiring diagram for the T106 Also, here is the link to view or purchase this item:

How does the dual speed feature of this pump work?

A  Answered on 6/15/2006 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Some dual speed pumps have a toggle switch in the back of the motor to change speeds manually, but many do not. Generally you would need to tie this dual speed pump into one of our dual speed pump timers/controllers. One of the more popular models is the Digital PE153 series. This timer has 3 functions: one to turn the pump on and off, a second auxiliary to switch from high speed to low speed, and then a third for any other piece of pool equipment. You may view these controllers through the following link: Intermatic Timers
