What is Service Factor?

A  Answered on 1/11/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?

A  Answered on 1/12/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?

A  Answered on 1/12/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.

My old motor part no: K48K2PA105C1. It's matching a cross reference to this one (QC1072), however I couldn't fine my pump model number in the listing. Will this motor be exact fit for my pump Sta-Rite Max-E-Pro pump model: P6E6D-205L Thank you

A  Answered on 4/1/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alan M.

Hello Stan. The A.O. Smith 3/4 HP E.E. Square Flange Full Rate Motor is an exact replacement fit for the Sta-Rite Max-E-Pro 3/4 HP Full Rate Energy Efficient, Model P6E6D-205L. When replacing the motor, we strongly recommend replacing the Shaft Seal. If you would like to replace all your pump seals, we have the Tune Up Kit Sta-Rite Max-E-Pro available as well.

What shaft seal do I need? I'm replacing an A.O. Smith motor (QC1072) that is coupled to a WhisperFlo Model WFE-3. Thanks

A  Answered on 6/30/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alan M.

The correct shaft seal you would need is the PENTAIR SHAFT SEAL ASSEMBLY OEM (071734S) or the Generic Seal, Pump 1000 (psr 1000). The first is the manufacturer's version, the latter is the generic.

Old motor hummed on start up this spring

Written on 7/23/2020 by Guest

Hit the old motor capacitor with a hammer a couple times, then ordered an identical replacement motor.

Received in a good amount of time. Unhooked the old, connected the new, and checked my wiring, hit the power switch and, drat, it hummed and smoked. Power off, Contacted INYO support, they suggested a few things. But seriously, it turned fine via a screwdriver at the end of the motor... Well, took it all apart and put it back together again. I swear, same as before, but this time it powered on it started right up and purred nice and quiet. That was over 2 months ago. Still running nice and quiet. Thanks!

New motor was a exact fit so new install was very easy. Move pump housing and impeller to new motor, install new wiring and loom and make connections.
