We have the Equator Skimmer Model KP 1008, the door flap is completely broke off. The pool is about 15 yrs old. Which replacement door flap would fit?

Hi, James. This Kafko Weir Conversion Kit - 20-0010-1 is the recommended replacement option.

I have the Equator wall skimmer with this door flap Weir, Skimmer (19-0101-0). The pool is 14 years old and I am on my second door which was replaced three years ago. All last year the door kept coming off out of the two U pieces that it clips into. I am trying to figure out if the door is worn or the U pieces in the skimmer box is worn. anyone do the conversion yet? I don't want to buy my third door it falls off. http://images.inyopools.com/cloud/documents/kafko-weir-conversion.pdf

Hi, WW. The conversion is quite easy to do. You can also use the Weir, Universal Spring Loaded 8-3/8" - 25141-440-000 as an alternate replacement.

The spring load alternative is NOT a suitable replacement for the Kafko Weir, Skimmer (19-0101-0). The dimension width/height for the (19-0101-0) is 5 15/16", the one you mentioned is 5 1/4". This is a considerable difference when it comes to debris and such. As a professional at this company, please do the research before commenting to customers.

I currently have a Equator Skimmer #1010-B, the weir is a #1002. The weir keeps popping off. The round rod on the weir appears worn where the two clips attach. Should I just replace the weir or buy the kit that replaces the weir and clips, or will should I use the spring loaded weir? If I use the spring loaded weir, do I need to drill holes for the weir pins to mount into?

Hi, Craig. A Universal Spring Loaded Weir will be better and more effective. No drilling is required for the Spring Loaded Weir.

How do you remove the old conversion clips that were glued in

Hi, Marianne. You can use a product that will remove the glue used for the tabs. Once the glue is removed then you can remove the tabs.

Dear Sirs, I have 2 skimmers Equator/Kafko-Pondex, since 1992 at least, but still in good conditions, except the weirs. The skimmers have 2 u-shape holders. What weir reference should i order. I don´t understand clearly how to fit / connect the tabs weir or the spring loaded models with the u-shape holders in my skimmers. Regards, Maria

We would actually recommend the the 4202-10 which is a universal weir which is spring loaded. You put the weir in place and pull the tabs and the spring loaded rods pop out to hold the weir in place, this one is our choice.

At the present time I have nothing--no weir and no rod to attach it to--just a big open rectangle where a flap should be. How do I know which of the three weir options do I need?

I believe one of these would be your best bet. Please click HERE to see the Spring Loaded Weirs.  They have a spring-loaded peg that comes out of either side and "locks" the gate in. Please just look at the measurements and get the proper one for your application.

Part 2 - What is the difference between the 3 Kafko Equator weir doors you carry? There seems to be a lot of questions around this topic. (Continues Below)

Continuation of post below - The 4070-06 is the original weir by itself. The 4202-10 is a universal weir which is spring loaded. You put the weir in place and pull the tabs and the spring loaded rods pop out to hold the weir in place, this one is my choice. Either way, 4070-09 or 4202-10 will work, and the small rectangular pieces will need to be removed from the skimmer first.

The history of the Kafko Equator Skimmer. The 4070-09 is the complete weir replacement kit, It’s called a conversion kit, but it’s a complete replacement. There have been 2 versions of this kit the original version which is no longer available included a weir, a weir rod, and 2 rectangular pieces of plastic with a small round hole in each. The rectangular pieces of plastic were glued to the sides of the skimmer mouth with rubber cement, the weir rod was then inserted into each round hole to keep it in place and the rod was inserted through the hole in the weir to keep it in place. The current version of the conversion kit part # 4070-09 uses the same weir but in this version (2010 and later) the rectangular plastic pieces each have a short circular male extension, the extensions are the same diameter as the original weir rod, which is no longer used.

What is this conversion kit? Now I have the standard Kafko weir that snaps onto u-shaped holders on the skimmer. The door keeps popping off. I was going to try to order a new weir when I saw this conversion kit listed. With this conversion kit will I be able to use the universal spring loaded weir or will I need a new regular weir?

We do not reccomend the the conversion kit for this product. Our reccomendation would be the 4202-10 Universial Spring Loaded Weir which can be purchased through this link http://www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352028771.htm
