I'm considering replacing my pump motor (Jandy FHPM 1.0) with the ECM16SQU. At the same time I'm looking at the flow rates relative to my pool and pipe size (10k, 1.5" multi returns and suction lines). I'm going to run some tests for Dynamic Head and Flow rates. Based on that I was considering swapping the impeller to a 1.5 hp. If I do this do I need to change the diffuser as well? Seems like I'll have better tuning of flow with RPM if I do that. Thanks.

Hi Dave, I agree that it would be a good idea to upgrade your impeller to the 1.5 HP FHPM Impeller. If you upgrade your impeller to 1.5 HP then you will need to also upgrade your diffuser to the 1.5 HP FHPM Diffuser. By doing this you will be able to utilize the higher speeds of the pump when you have more demanding conditions like an algae bloom or heavy debris.
