Can this valve be mounted vertically?

Yes, the valve can be mounted vertically. The flow of the water must be moving up. The flow of the water cannot be moving down.

My check valve is P/N 7236 REV . Pool is 6 1/2 years old. Is 7235 the same as my part? Also can I just replace the flapper and cover without removing entire black pvc fitting? My spa water is draining back into pool whenever pump is not on. I'm assuming it's one of my 2 check valves.

The flapper on my Jandy Check valve is damaged. Can I replace just the flapper. Is that part for sale if I get a part number? Thanks

Why does the spring in this valve last at best two seasons?

Good afternoon Kevin, The longevity of these springs all depends on the amount of usage they have and whether they are used properly when switching from position to position. Also if your pool has high chemical reads of PH and other chemicals it can cause these parts to wear down prematurely as well.

Hello, I need to replace check valve which has 7236 on the cover. The current valve has a 2" 90deg male fitting on top (looks to be the inlet side according to arrow) and the bottom has 1-1/2" pipe coming out of it. Question is, what is the correct replacement part number for the whole valve? Thanks.

Hello John.  The Check Valve part number 7235 is the correct check valve replacement.  The check valve in your photo has been attached (over its outside) to a 90 degree 2" PVC Schedule 40 elbow fitting (separate fitting/part)  (attached to a diverter valve on the other end) and a 1 1/2" PVC Schedule 40 pipe (inside attachment) on the opposite end.  The check valve 7235 can be attached 2" fitting on the outside, 1 1/2" pipe on the inside.  Check Valve   If there are no plumbing leaks you may wish to consider replacing just the cover assembly.  Cover Assembly
