Does the term "slip" in the description of this part mean that the suction line outlet is configured to slip a PVC pipe over it? If so, is it compatable with 2" PVC fittings?

When they speak about slip and threaded for this item they are referring to the connection to the volute (Part # 8 in this diagram, most of the challenger pumps use a slip connection) http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_pentair_pac_fab_challenger.aspx The suction and discharge port accomodates 2" plumbing

Is this an actual OEM Pentair product? In the picture showing the inside of the part, the flange on the outer rim looks rough instead of smooth.

Yes this is the original OEM part. What will ship is going to be the Pentair version as stated under the "manufacturer" portion of this product's page.

How can I find out what type of housing, slip or threaded, I have without taking it apart first?

Hi Greg, Inspect the housing to see if you have threads on the inside or no threads.

I need a replacement front housing. My current housing has a model number of 355459. However, when a I search for this, all I get is 355468. Is the 355459 not produced anymore?

My label is almost gone. I can see...Challenger 1 1/2, label 35-5460. Should I disconnect from system and confirm threads or no threads? Just need to replace front housing due to pin hole leaks. Any other seals, etc. I need to do so?

Hi, Tony. You can use either option since you have a Strainer Housing.

housing has several pinhole leaks. the only number I find is 346201. Don't know if that is a part number or not. Will 355468 fit????

Yes, this would a correct replacement part but is the slip suction version. Hence that means that the plumbing would be slip glued into the front of the housing.

Can you tell me if the front housing P/N 355468 is compatible with the P/N 355302 i have installed on my pump? The web page descriptions show they are different sizes. 12 x 12 x 5" versus 11.62 x 11.62 x 5" . This is for a Pentair Challenger pool pump

Hi. Yes, both housings are interchangeable when used with a Challenger Pump with a strainer.

I received your answer stating the pool pump housing housing 355468 is interchangeable with 355302, but I still have concerns regarding the different sizes shown for each of them. 12x12x5 for 355468 & 11.62x11.62x5 for 355302. Can you please confirm if either of these P/N's will work befor I order?

Hi, Bob. I confirmed with the warehouse, both parts measures 11-11/16" OD. We will work in updating the dimensional product images.

I accidentally got the threaded version of this from another retailer. My old front housing was slip. Will this cause any problems?

Hi, Ragnar. It will not matter if it's being mounted to the Strainer Pot - 355300

So I have a us motors 2.25 hp pump with a 2 inch slip on the front housing and measures 11 5/8and has a strainer on the front by pac-fab the front housing is super old and the only number I can find says 5302 real small in a circle. This new one looks the same but mine measures 4 inches not 5 for the depth is this the same part? 5002-08 is larger and doesn't work.

Hi. The pump you have is a PacFab Challenger Pump. This  Front Housing - Slip, Black - 355468 should have no issues fitting. The parts hasn't been changed or redesigned.
