What motor to replace in a 2005 Jacuzzi Magnum Force (15UMF-S)? AOSmith motor label doesn't include Cat No, but shows part number of 7-184949-22. I only find cross ref to a B654 motor, but it doesn't match the same specs - see pics. (1.1SF, 230/115v, 8.0/16.0amp, 3450rpm, DPenc, Type CX) I'm coming down to either a UST-1152 or ST-1152 but both have differing SF. If the motor is slightly different than current, do i need to change impeller and seal housing based on motor? Help please. thanks

Hi Corey, yes this is a bit of a confusing one but yes this UST1152 is the correct replacement motor and you will not need to replace the impeller. You will need this Jacuzzi Magnum Seal Kit when you replace your motor. We put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.

I do not see the exterior cap on this model as I do in the Hayward Super II I am replacing. Is this important?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/18/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi, It does not matter if your Capacitor is internal or external as there have been different variations of this motor which have the capacitor external and others internal. The main thing you want to make sure of is that your service factor, HP and amps match up. When replacing your motor you will need this Hayward Super II Tune Up Kit. If you want to confirm you have the correct motor then please send us a close-up photo of your motor label. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get those photos we can make the proper recommendation.

 Reply

A  Answered on 9/16/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Robert M.

Yes, you could put a 2HP 2-speed motor on your Hayward Super Pump. The 2HP 2-speed motor is model STS1202. You can use your existing 1.5HP impeller and diffuser. However, if you want to upgrade those parts to take full advantage of the increase in flow, you'd need the 2HP parts. The impeller would be part number 5110-10F and the diffuser would be part number 5110-09EA.

Hi Larry, if you were to go up in horsepower we would recommend going with a variable speed model so you would not be stuck with a high HP if the suction and water pressure ended up too much for your system. Here is a guide that we put together called "How to Size a Pool Pump for Your In-Ground Pool" that may assist.

I have this motor and it won't start, just hums when turned on. My motor has a an external piece on the housing that I don't see in the picture. (see photo) One of the replies says this motor doesn't have a start capacitor, but the UCT1152 does have an external capacitor. Is that what I'm seeing on mine? If so could that be the issue causing the humming? This motor is just barely 2 years old. I really hope I don't have to replace it again. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

 Reply

A  Answered on 8/3/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi David, The UST1152 or the UCT1152 are not the correct replacement motors for the motor and pump in your photos. You would require this B2854 1.5 HP 56Y Replacement Motor Normally a humming sound indicates a bad capacitor. We have put together this guide which will show you How to Test for a Bad Capacitor if you do determine it is a bad capacitor then follow this guide here on How to Select the Proper Replacement Capacitor. If you do decide to replace the entire motor then you will need this Jandy PHPM Seal Kit when you replace your motor. We put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.

Hi Gary, if you can locate the part number molded/marked on the impeller then we can confirm the replacement single speed motor for your pool pump. Also, you have a Hayward Super II pump that can use the GOKIT2 seal kit for a chlorine swimming pool and the GOKIT2SALT for a saltwater swimming pool.

I am trying to replace an old single speed motor/pump with the Hayward MaxFlo XL. After opening the box, I noticed a label on the motor (Century K48AA35A04) stating I need an additional controller to switch between speeds. I have a Intermatic T40004R timer currently. Can you recommend the easiest (and least expensive) controller to use? The toggle switch looks good but I am not sure which one will work. Thanks!

Hi, KStone. If you have a MaxFlo XL Dual Speed pump running voltage 230, you can use the T106M which will be linked to your existing T104M timer.

The motor of my Hayward Pool Pump with housing identification of SP2610X15 was replaced 8 years ago with the UST1152, after 9 years with the original motor. My question is whether it would make sense or be beneficial to replace the impeller and diffuser this time considering the age of each part. If so, could you tell me the correct part numbers based on my housing identification. Also, if replacing these parts would I still need the tune up kit? Thank you! Bob

If the impeller or diffuser are severely worn, cracked or broken then yes I would recommend replacing these however, if not then they should be okay. The part number for that impeller is 5110-10DA, the diffuser is 5110-09A, the seal kit for a chlorine pool is GOKIT3 and for a saltwater pool is GOKIT3SALT

The six bolts you are referring to in the picture are for your pump housing's seal plate. If you compare the picture of the  UST1152 on this product page and the one on your pump, you can see the 4 bolt flanges on the end of the motor barrel that mounts to the seal plate.

A  Answered on 7/31/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

Do you have information on the front half of your pump? The best place to find your pump model information is on the pump housing tag. Pool pump manufacturers label each housing with make and model information as well as serial numbers. The pump model number is the golden ticket to finding the proper tune up kit, so we will want to find that most of all. The tag is usually placed on the side of the strainer basket or near the discharge port for easy access. Model number formats vary depending on the manufacture but should be marked clearly.

Yes, you could upgrade to a higher horsepower, but that is not a guarantee it will fix your issue. You may be having a voltage issue that is causing premature failures of your motors. You may also want to check the part number of your pump impeller to confirm you have been buying the correct horsepower motors.

Did replace 1-1/2HP Century C48L2N134B1, which is SP1610Z1M, with UST1152 1-1/2HP up rated motor had big problem with shaft being too long; when first put together impeller was grinding against the entrance of diffuser and seal did not seat correctly, spring notcompressed enough, so there was a water leak through the bottom drain slot. I assume the Century UST1152 motor was put together incorrectly since it's supposed to be a clear replacement for the Sp1610; is that correct???

We do always suggest a Seal Kit when replacing a motor. To determine the proper seal kit we will need to know your pump make and model information, common pump names would be Hayward Super Pump, Hayward Super II, Hayward Max Flo, etc.. To supply this information click the reply link below, also if you could send a few photos those are always helpful as well. If you send photos then take a close up shot of the motor label as well as a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get any of this information we can make the proper recommendation.

I received the A.O. Smith 1.5 HP Round Flange 56J Up Rate Motor - UST1152 motor to replace my pump motor. The new motor came with a rubber thread protector on the shaft threads as well as a rubber washer/gasket on the shaft. I know the thread protector gets removed but was wondering if the rubber gasket/washer stays on or comes off before installation.

A  Answered on 5/5/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

Those gaskets are referred to as slingers that sit on the shaft of the motor against the face of it, and do not need to be removed.

I have a Hayward Superpump C48L2N134B1 that is locked up after just 5 years. So I have two questions. 1) can I replace it with a variable speed pump motor? 2) Is there a better pump or was this a fluke? It is outdoors all year in Ohio. The pool professionals winterize it so not sure what happened. Please let me know your thoughts. Please include price and availability. Thanks for your help!!!

Hi, Jeff. Yes, you can convert your single speed pump to a variable speed using the PL1116 or ECM16CU motors. You will also need the Super Pump Tune Up Kit - GOKIT3 or GOKIT3SALT. It is hard to say if its a fluke or not without knowing what caused the motor lock up. The motor part numbers are hyperlinked so you click it to see the price and availability.

Hi, Bruce. The next size up will be the UST1202. To achieve an increase in water flow, you will also have to replace the impeller and the diffuser and or other parts depending on the type of pump you have. It can cause filtration and other problems if your system cannot handle the increased water flow. You can use Inyo's How to Size a Pool Pump for Your In-Ground PoolHow To Size a Pool Filter and How To Measure Total Dynamic Head With Gauges guides to assist you in confirming if a 2 hp pump will meet and not exceed your pool needs.

Hi, Brian. This motor will fit your current Hayward Super Pump. You will also need to replace the Impeller - SPX2610C, Diffuser - SPX2600B and the Super Pump Tune Up Kit - GOKIT3 or GOKIT3SALT.

Can I use this motor to replace a hayworth motor?

As long as your motor model, part or catalog number matches this one then yes. That information should be right on the motor label itself.

I am replacing a Hayward Super Pump model # C48L2N134B1. Also has the following on it, SP-1610-Z1-M. It is a 1.5 hp. Will this work to replace it and will I need any additional parts? Thanks

Laura, Yes, this is the correct replacement. I would also recommend getting the GOKIT3 or the GOKIT3SALT to replace the seals.

I have a Hayward Max-Flo pump model #SP2800ZL with motor model C48L2N134B3.. will this motor work? Any instructions on how to replace the shaft seal and which one I need. The pump model # is not that popular, google's not turning a lot of results when I search it.

I have a Hayward pool pump with a 1.5 HP motor. Will this fit the Hayward assembly?

If your pump has the model number SP2610X15 or the motor that you are replacing has a service factor(s.f.) of 1 and has been working well then yes this motor would work.

I have a Hayward Super Pump model SP2610X15. The motor (UST1152) is making a lot of noise so I would like to replace it. What else besides the motor will I need?

It is recommended to replace the seals and gaskets as well. For the Super Pump, those would be the GOKIT3 or the GOKIT3SALT for a saltwater swimming pool.

I have an old pump that is making a LOT of noise when it runs. It is model C48L2N134C1 (UST1152). I would like to replace it. Do I need any additional parts? I have a salt system.

Hi, Larry. You will need this motor UST1152 and the pump shaft seal and or the Tune Up Kit. However, you will need to know the model of your pump housing. You can reference our How To Find The Correct Pool Pump Shaft Seal blog for assistance.

I have this pump and for some reason, water flow stopped going to it. Shouldn't it have cut off before it burnt up the motor? If so, is how do I reset it? Thanks Joe
