The ports on the SP0714T are positioned differently than the ones on the SP0704 valve so will have to move the locations of the hoses.

Gary, If you current valve is on top of your filter and has 1-1/2" pipe coming into it then this would be the correct valve for the Hayward S-244T sand filter.

Gale, The valve is easy to replace. You simply have to remove the plumbing and loosen the clamp. Please be sure to release the pressure in the tank befor removing the valve. You can return the in new/unused condition within 30 days. Please call us if you need to return the valve.

Can the clamp that holds the valve to the tank be purchased by its self or do you have to purchased the entire unit? The one on the tank broke where it screwed together.

What is your valve's full model number? The SP711 should be followed by a "13" or a few letters. Or you can provide a the filter's model number.

The model number is not on the valve where it should be. It might have been erased by the sun. The valve body has "SP714A" I need a replacement. Is the SPX714T the right one.

Hi. You may have to replace the Tank O-ring if water is leaking from between the tank and the filter valve. Water leaking from the valve after changing the diverter gasket would lead to a bad cover o-ring or valve stem o-ring.

Water leaks a little bit but always out the back where you backwash in just about every position. Do you know why?

Looking to replace my hayward vari flo control assembly body. model sp-711-13. I see the replacement is SP 0714 although the ports for pump and return are not aligned the same as on my sp 711-13. My lines are pvc pipe and sp 0714 ports will align with my existing lines. Is there a solution?

G, Unfortunately, you will have to re plumb. The newer valve ports are off centered to allow for easier installation.

We have a Hayward S-180T series. It is leaking water out the backwash hose and putting sand back into the pool. Do I need a new 6 position multiport valve or what is causing this?

Hi, John. You can either replace the Top Valve Assy - SPX0714BA and Cover O-ring - SPX0714L or the entire valve in order to resolve your issue.

The valve still is working but is hard to move. Consequence was that the handle broke. Do you have that only?

Typically in your case, it is the spider gasket that needs to be replaced and of course, you would need to replace the handle to repair this issue. You can see these parts listed as keys 1 and 9 listed on the parts diagram here. You may also want to consider replacing that entire top valve assembly being key 4.

I have a Hayward 166T sand filter and when I backwashed for the first time the water kept draining and drained down my pool. Would I need to replace the spider gasket or the entire multiport. Also my model number has worn off. What do you recommend

Byron, This valve will fit the S166T. It sounds like you may need to inspect the spring. The spring can be difficult to replace so you may be better off replacing the entire valve.

Hi. The valve could be the cause if the diverter gasket is bad. You can tell if the diverter gasket is bad if water is leaking out of the backwash port while in filtration mode. If that's not happening the valve is not the issue and it could be another issue.
