Hi,
My old pool light has had a leak and the base is rusted. So I was looking for a replacement fixture and found this out. The old fixture is an American Products fixture 12V, 300W (the label says series 7883XX, 7843XX). My question is, will this fixture be the correct replacement for that? Also, can I use an LED multi color bulb with this fixture instead of incandescent bulb? If so what would be a compatible bulb? Thank you for your help.

As long as 50' of cord is enough for the installation, yes, the Pool Amerlite 300 Watt 50 Ft Cord 12 Volt - 78438100 is correct. The ColorSplash LXG LED Pool Lamp 12V - LPL-P2-RGB-12 with Guardian Silicone Lens Extra Heavy Duty Gasket for Pentair Amerlite - LPL-G-P will be needed for the install and use with the LED Color bulb. After installing the Intermatic 300 watt transformer and the light niche, I needed to replace my old pool light. Luckily, my pool was already drained because I was replacing the liner and the previous pool light was already taken off. Therefore, all I had to do was run the wire of the pool light to the transformer, add some epoxy putty and screw the light on. It was a piece of cake.

Decent light to replace my dangerous 110v, broken light. I ordered this as a whole kit with the LED multicolored light. It looks nice and functions well with the Intermatic 300 w transformer. The cord was a fraction thicker than the old light, but I was still able to fish it through the 1/2' PVC conduit (with fish tape and lube).

Excellent high-quality light fixture. Was very easy to install and everything felt very high quality. Unfortunately the inner bulb was smashed when it arrived, but InyoPool.com customer service sent out a replacement.

Pros: good replacement for my old Amerrican Standard.
Cons: Sad they are no longer producing/selling the light with the 30 foot cord (had to waste a lot with the 50 footer)
Am pleased thus far with the new Pentair Amerlite. And particularly glad that the electric cord is of a smaller diameter - i.e. it fits into my pool sidewall without the struggle I had each time with the larger old one. Only regret is that they no longer carry the 30 ft cord light (for my needed 22 ft) which would have been somewhat less costly
