Why does the diffuser stick to the impeller and wont let it spin properly?

According to the Pentair / Pac Fab Challenger Parts page, there is a (#3) mounting plate between the (#6)diffuser and the (#2)seal plate. If that mounting plate is missing, that would be a reasonable explanation for the sticking of the impeller. If everything is installed properly there, another reason could be if the pump seal was recently changed, it was installed incorrectly and is not allowing the impeller to be tightened all the way down. Last would be the impeller is not threaded right and is slightly off center. Good Luck!!

why is replacement diffuser not an exact match to diffuser plate i have but screw holes matched

Hi Carlos, could you send us a few photos of your pump and motor? Please take a close up shot of the motor label as well as a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. Hi. I'm purchasing a replacement diffuser (#355077), but don't see a choice to also replace the diffuser spacer/mounting plate. Am I missing that part? If so, what part number is that? Or perhaps that's included with the diffuser purchase?

Hi Roger, so per the manufacturer parts diagram there is no part for this pump referred to as the "spacer" so I will assume that you are referring to the mounting plate. Please view the Pentair/Pac Fab Challenger parts diagram that should have the part listed that you need.

I need the o-ring for the 355077 diffuser. There seems to be many, but I don't know which one is the match. Do you guys have this o-ring?
It can get a little confusing, but we are here to help. The 355077 Diffuser is used on the CF (medium head version) series of the Pentair / Pac Fab Challenger CHII / CFII Series of pumps, so you would need the Diffuser O-ring (Square Ring) Medium Head - 355030. It is included in the Tune Up Kit Pac Fab Challenger CFII/Pinnacle Series - GOKIT73.

We purchased a new home in February. While getting the pool ready for spring I disassembled the pump and motor because it was making an awful grinding buzzing sound. I found that the diffuser had broken in two pieces causing the rattling. This replacement diffuser was not an exact match to what I had but thankfully the diffuser plate matched to screw holes and the new diffuser mounted correctly. This unit works great and I have no complaints.
