The thread of filter dome is worn. Hard to close and open the filter head

Hi, Gisa. The Star Clear Plus Filter Heads do not have any threads on it. The Locking Knob - CX900G is what secures the lid to the Rod of the tank body.

This filter lid only comes with the air relief valve on it.

Hi Jose, Unfortunately the lid for your filter has become obsolete by Hayward and no longer available. Here is a link to the Parts Still Available for Your Hayward DE Filter. The Hayward DE3620 DE Filter would be the new version of your filter and if you need to replace the lid then you would need this entire filter.

      Jose, Yes, a complete D.E. Filter will include the grids.

        Do I need to also buy the slide valve when installing my new Hayward DE filter or can I use the existing one? If I can use the existing one, what the best way to remove it? Thank you.

          Jose, You can use the existing valve. The old valve will unscrew from the filter via the locknuts.

Kandus, yes, the Filter Head W/ Directional Vent - CX900B would be the correct replacement for your Hayward C900 with serial number 59659. I have confirmed the model information using the picture as well.
