Is the nut in this part 1/4-28? It is replacing a nut with that exact size, which is nearly impossible to find in hardware stores.

I have a cristal-flo filter and need the black handle to the clamp ring assembly. Are these handles universal on sand filters?

Yes this is the correct black handle for your cristal-flo clamp.

While rebuilding my pool pump I broke the tank body clamp retaining ring screw.

Threw away the broke clamp ring.
Put new one on pump body and pump plate.
Used new screw handle to tighten
Worked perfectly.
