Oops--wrong model no. on previous o-ring question. Pac-Fab Nautilus NSS-48 is correct model number. Sorry.

Hello Robert - This o-ring will fit the Pac-Fab Nautilus NS-48. We could not find a a filter model NSS-48.

Is this o-ring a wedge type ? My original is wider on one side and more narrow in the other....does that make sense??

Hello Joe - This o-ring has a round cross section. This replacement o-ring will work on the stainless steel Pac Fab Nautilus D.E., Sea Horse Cartridge, and 18" PF Sand Filter.

Socket Set
First I drained about half of the water from the tank. There is no need to drain it completely if you are only replacing the tank O-ring. I removed the band and carefully separated the two halves of the filter housing with a putty knife. If more water comes out at the seam just drain a little more until you can lift off the upper half of the tank. My old O-ring was hard and shaped like a wedge which was the reason it was leaking. I coated the new O-ring all around with silicone pool sealant. Do not skip this step. Next, I carefully placed the O-ring on the lower half of the filter housing. It looked slightly over-sized, and kept slipping into the tank as I lowered the top half down on it. It would have been easier with a helper, so keep that in mind. I kept tucking and shifting it until it was in place, even though one spot bulged out slightly. The band went around it easily and actually corrected the bulging area. I tightened the band to leave a gap of 1/4" between the bolt keepers. I decided not to strain the band any more than was necessary for a good seal. The new O-ring is going to be thicker than the old one after years of compression, so do not expect the band to tighten down as tight as before. I primed and started my pump and it did not leak one drop! Thank you Inyo Pools for a high quality replacement O-ring.
