I need parts for my filter valve. When I look at the filter parts breakdown, it gives me different choices. How do I know which one is the one I need?

In order to locate the correct parts we will need to know the model number of the filter valve. Two identical filters can have two different valves. Typically the valve model will be located on the label of the valve. If there is no model number on the valve, you can try to see if there are any part numbers on the valve itself. Once you've located you valve model you can check out our >Filter Valve Parts.

bought the Pentair quad 60 and the backwsh valve Pentair 263064 FNS Plus Quad D.E. Filter PVC Push Pull Valve; the directions said top - waste, middle ' from the pump' and bottom to the pool - disaster- plunger up as directed- water did not filter but went to waste and when we put the plunger down the filter reversed and blew out the D.E. and now the quad cartridges are full of green algae debris - give me a heads up on how to plumb the valve and how to clean the cartridges- pls.

Hi Paul, The DE application the Top Port is the return line and the waste port is the bottom.

I have a Pentair FNS Plus 60 180009 DE filter. I am replacing the entire valve due to cracks in the old one. I cut out the old valve, I am installing unions, there are no part numbers. The piston part number is 27-3241. I am pretty sure this is the right part, just wanted a second opinion before I order it. Thank you for your help.

I'm starting to get some filter sand in the pool, Could the problem be worn out O-rings in the slide, or do I have to look for a more involved solution?

Hi Keith, The most common issue for sand back in the pool is broken laterals. Could you post a few photos of your sand filter, especially the label on the tank showing the filter model information. i have an old American DE filter see picture attached... the nut to attach the backflush valve to the filter has split and is leaking at the fitting..
first do they make a split nut for this ... it is an odd size.... i would rather go this route as i dont have to replumb
second is the 2" backflush vale 263064 the correct replacement valve for this unit..?
if it does not work is the part returnable ?

Hi Kevin, Thanks for the photo! No, the split nut is not sold separately. Yes, this valve is the correct replacement valve for your filter in the photo. If it does not fit then yes it is returnable, just as long as it is in like-new resellable condtion. You would just be responsible for any return shipping.

What is the short clear section of pipe shown that is included in this valve for and where does it install?

Hello Mark. The clear section of pipe is a sight glass that may be plumbed into the backwash line if desired. The purpose of the sight glass is to visually monitor the clarity of the backwash water. When the discharge water runs clear the backwash process is complete.
