Pool size-16x30; 17,000 gal. Do I need 60 or 70 sq ft DE filter? Pump size: 2hp Max E Pro full rate P6R6G-208 L. Is this setup correct?

We would recommend the S7MD72 since you have a 2HP full rated pump. The S7MD72 is designed to handle the higher flow rate.

My psi sometimes rises from 18 to 22 or 23. The gauge and air pressure release has been cleaned and I have found some small pine needles in there. I am wondering if I am loosing pressure and need to replace the gauge, air release, etc. I am sure it is not from the filter basket or skimmer being blocked or full.

This article on How to Reduce High Pressure in Your Pool System goes over a good checklist of different things to check when you are getting high pressure. Also the comments on this article have some good nuggets of information. If this does not fix your problem then please email us back and we can dig a little deeper into your issue.

What is the recommended 2" multiport valve and doe sta-rite make a de recovery tank? I will be replacing a Hayward tank. Is there a discount / shipping promotion if I order all three?

Hi Ross, You would require the 2" Multiport Port Valve for the S7MD60 Filter here, and here is the Pentair Speration Tank you would require.

I need a "nut"/"collar" for the connection to the intake opening on my sta-rite filter. It is a S7MD60 filter. Where can I purchase this? Thank you.

Hi ScottishKnight, You will need the replacement Bulkhead Retaining Nut (24752-0050)Deflector Bulkhead Assy (23910-0101S) and O-ring (35505-1425). You can find other replacement part via the Sta-Rite Modular DE Filter S7MD60 & S7MD72 Parts Diagram.

Need a new pool filter looking at sta rite s7 md72 system. 28,000 gallon pool, with Hayward 2 hp pump. Would this model handle the pool size and the rated pump hp. Than you?

Hi John, This unit can handle your size pool and can bu used with a 2 HP as long as the flow rate produced by the pump does not exceed 90 GPM. You can use the steps in our How To: Size a Pool Pump and How To: Size a Pool Filter guide for more info.

If I run this filter without adding DE will it still clean the pool like a typical cartridge filter?

Hi. It will not using the DE Style Module. You will need to convert your DE - S7MD60 filter to Cartridge - S8M500. You will need to purchase Part # 25021-0021 along with the Inner Cartridge - http://www.inyopools.com/Products/04200011032402.htm and Outer Cartridge - 25022-0225S

Is the main housing for 2 models the same? S7MD60 and S7MD72. I know the filter size is 60 vs 72. But would like to know if the actual filter housing "the egg" is the same I understand the s7md60 is 28.5inches in width. is the s7md72 also 28.5 inches in width
