The most likely case of the problem is a bad shaft seal.  It would be part number 5110-11 If, while you are inside the pump, you wish to replace all the o-rings, there is a kit called a GOKIT3

how do you remove the seal plate from the pump motor? I have a pump that is seized and want to remove the plate to see if I can manually turn the pump. However, I am unable to remove the plate from the Hayward motor.

See our guide on "How To Replace the Motor on Your Pool Pump". It shows you step by step how to replace a Hayward motor including how to remove the seal plate.

Does this include the impeller?

The SPX1600SKIT1 Hayward Super Pump Seal Plate Kit does not include the impeller. The impeller must be purchased separately and matched with the motor's Horsepower output.

are these pumps like car water pump when the seal goes bad does the water leak out the little hole in the bottom of the pump and if so how do you get the pump off in order to change the back seal

Vinny, Yes these pumps are similar. What model pump do you have? The process to change the shaft seal can vary depending on the pump model.

do you have a seal plate kit for saltwater. Description of the plate kit does no indicate seal is for saltwater.I need the motor mount, the seal mount plate, the seal for salt water, and the gaskets. If I order the salt tune up kit, and the seal plate kit, I end up with two seals, one fro salt, one not.

Hi Glenn, Unfortunately, we do not have a seal plate kit for saltwater. The seal that is in the kit can be used on salt pools but just won't last as long as the heavy duty seal included in the Tune Up Kit.

Hello: I have a leak between my seal plate and motor mounting plate on my rs750. When I replace them do I use sealant, or just bolt them together.

You do not need silicone for replacing these parts. Just standard o ring lubricant for the housing gasket.

i HAVE A 1 HP MOTOR, WHAT SEAL PLATE DO i NEED
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/19/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

The seal plate will be based on the model name or number of the front pump housing that the motor bolts to. If you do not have that information then you can email pictures of it to upload@inyopools.com so we can identify it for you.

Do I need to also purchase the bolts for the motor mount? This purchase will be used with the 2607c impeller and the Smith 1 HP motor. That grouping is replacing the old Hayward Super Pump. I already have the GoKit. Thanks

my pump is leaking do i need the seal kit to fix this ?

If your pump is leaking from a seam, then a gasket most likely the problem. The gasket kit for the Hayward Super Pump is the GOKIT3 or the GOKIT3SALT. But I would try opening your pump to determine where the leak is coming from first; there may a crack in one of the hardware pieces.

I replaced the seal on the housing. I leaks worse now than before. What could it be?

A  Answered on 7/14/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Larry. The shaft seal could be installed incorrectly and or the seal plate could be warped.

Would replacing this plate (and seal) be a tight fit back on the motor, or should it slip on easy?
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/21/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Craig C.

Hello Eric.  The Pureline Super Pump Seal Plate with motor shaft seal installed should easily slide down the motor shaft and butt against the motor mounting plate.  Attached please find an exploded part diagram which may assist in visualizing how these parts are installed.    Hayward Super Pump SP1600 & SP2600 Series

Hello, if you have a Hayward Super Pump series pump then the correct seal kit for a chlorine swimming pool is the GOKIT3. If you have a saltwater swimming pool then that will be the GOKIT3SALT

Hello, there are number of seal  plates that can be used with pool pump motors however if the other pool pump parts are not the same brand/model then it will not mount correctly. Here is our "Replacing Parts For A Pump You Don’t Have A Model Number For" guide that we put together that should assist you with that.
