We are hearing a buzzing sound when we turn on the power, but there is no suction. We have a Whisperflo 3/4 purchased 10/2009. (Linda Laski) Serial number 032625309203. Does that sound like a pump problem?

Good morning Dave, Sounds like the start capacitor is bad. Is there a hump on top of the motor? If so, that is where the capacitor is located and it is an easy replacement. If not then it is located in the back of motor.

I have a pentair WF-24, 1 hp with a SF of 1.25. which Pentair energy effic. pump would I replace it with. I'm confused that on the data it states a SF of 1.67 yet you say its total hp is just under 1hp

Hi Millie, The Pentair WFE-3 or WFE-24 are your energy efficient options.

In most applications I would say a 1 HP or a 1.5 HP pump would be suited for a 25,000 gallon pool. However there are quite a few factors that come into play like your filter size, pump size and feet of head. We put together a good video here on How to Size a Pool Pump which you may find helpful. I personally like the PureLine Pure Water 1.5 HP Pump.

Will I need to purchase O-rings and seals in addition to the pump or does that all come with it?

A     Answered on 12/29/2015 by Joe S.

Hello Rob, Pentair Whisperflo Energy Effic 3/4 HP Full Rate Pump PART#011512 is the complete unit. You will not need any additional seals or gaskets. Just the PVC you would purchase from a hardware store. If you wanted to add unions you would purchase part number 11201-0154.

How many GPM ( Gallons Per Minute ) is this pump ?

A     Answered on 7/18/2015 by Brian M.

Depending on the head resistance, that number will vary. But at minimal head, the max would be 98GPM .

I have an existing WF-23. Should I replace it with the same unit or should I use the WFE-3? Are all of the connections compatible?

A     Answered on 6/25/2015 by Hector F.

By going to the WF-3 you would be getting a full rate model which is technicaly a total horse power of just under 1. Connections are the same but you need to make sure that the filter will be compatible via flow rate to handle the extra water pressure.

How long can we expect the motor to last? Installed 10/2013 making very loud noises (Not whispering) Poolman says to replace it!

A     Answered on 5/13/2015 by Patrick P.

Normally a pool motor lasts in the 7-10 year range, if it is running very loud then this means the bearings are going bad and it would be a good idea to replace the motor.

I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?

A     Answered on 2/16/2012 by Patrick P.

Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.

Do the WFE-3 and WFE-24 have the same pump curve?

A     Answered on 7/2/2009 by Patrick P.

The WFE-24 and WFE-3 have the exact same pump curve. You may read more about full rate and up rate pumps here > and you may view or purchase either of these pumps here >

I feel fortunate to have found this site. The price was the best I could find. And their service was even better. Kudo's to INYO. You have my respect and my business going forward. This is a really good pump, I'm very happy with it ... it's so much quieter than our last pump. I have to look at the waterfall so I know that the pump is on.

Pros: Quiet

Cons: had to place smaller inserts to install

Arrived in the box in good working order. I always worry about purchasing items like this and wondering what your gonna get. I scheduled for install from a local pool person and in 20 minutes they had replaced my Hayward to the new Pentair. When the pool guy turned the new pump on, I was surprised to how quiet it runs. So, I'm impressed for now, give me a year to review again.
