How do I tell if wisperflo pump is 2008 or later?

A  Answered on 5/10/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The lid changed in 2008 for the Whisperflo, so if you have a metal band clamp on your lid then it is from 2008 and earlier. If your pump has a plastic clamp then it is from after 2008.

is this legal in California ..... if not what is the Pentair equivalent?

A  Answered on 11/20/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

Hi David, unfortunately, this is not a California title 20 complaint pool pump, and the closest complaint pump is the Pentair Intelliflo variable speed pool pump part number 011028

If I currently have a WF-4 motor can I replace it with a WFE-4 since it is "supposed" to be energy efficient? And on that note, if it is more energy efficient, is it a big difference?

A  Answered on 4/9/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi. Yes, you can use the WFE-4 motor as an energy-efficient replacement option. The energy-saving can really show based on your pool's runtime.

Does this pump have a switch to go between filter and backwash?

A  Answered on 5/31/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

No this is just a pump. It sounds like you are looking for a multiport or slide valve for the filter. Those are relevant to the filter model.

I'm considering the Pentair WF4 #11580 pump with 1 hp motor to replace my old unit. Does this motor have a 56Y frame? (I want to be able to keep my old pump as a spare).

A  Answered on 5/10/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Joe S.

Yes the current model pump has a 56Y framed motor

What is the difference between WFE-4 & WF-4

A  Answered on 5/4/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Bernie- The difference between the WFE-4 and the WF-4 is the WFE-4 is the energy efficient model so the Amps it runs at is 14.8 (115v)/7.8-7.4 (230v) and the WF-4 runs at 16.0(115v)/8.0(230v).

I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?

A  Answered on 2/16/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.
