what product do you use to seal the seal plate so water does not leak out

If you use a Seal Plate Gasket 357100 this will keep water from leaking out. This gasket is used on this particular seal plate 074565

Looking to replace the seal plate and the O ring on our part 7- 177451-03. Picture attached. Can you help me.
Unfortunately, we cannot use this image as the seals and gaskets are actually based on the front pump wet end housing that the motor attaches to.

I have a Pentair Pool Pump: Part 7-177451-03 and we are looking for parts for it. Can you advise, what alternate part numbers would work with this?

Hi Melanie, could you send us a few photos of your pump and motor? Please take a close up shot of the motor label as well as a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get those photos we can make the proper recommendation.

I have a whisperflo wf-26 pump made before 2008 . I always have used the almond plate gasket which is for units made before 2008. With this new seal plate which gasket should I use, Thank you

The seal plates manufactured before 1-31-2008 would be part number 5020-062 that you can view by clicking here. If you need to confirm date of manufacture you will need to provide the serial number to Pentair so they can advise. Their phone number is 1-800-831-7133 .

Hello, Richard. You will need to remove the diffuser cover and impeller first. I have included a link on How To Replace the Motor on Your Pool Pump http://www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how_to_replace_the_motor_on_your_pool_pump.aspx The link is not specific to the Whisperflo, though, it will provide a general overview on how remove the parts.

Ordered O'rings and appropriate seal kit to repair leak. Removed motor, when I tried to disassemble the seal plate, two of the bolts were corroded and when they finally broke free the brass inserts fractured the mount. I ordered a new seal plate, replaced the seal, reassembled the motor to seal plate (never seized all the bolts) and reinstalled to strainer assembly. Primed and reconnected the power. Energized the pump and all was fine. No more leaks to my 12 year old Intelliflo variable speed pump

First the new ceramic seal is pressed into the pump impeller. Then the matching seal is pressed into the seal plate. New seal plate attaches to motor with four bolts that engage metal threaded inserts (these were corroded and wobbly in the old replaced seal plate).
Impeller is screwed into the motor shaft (holding shaft steady with small wrench). Then reverse threaded bolt is screwed onto tip of motor shaft (don't forget O-ring). Finally, use hex tool to attach water distributor to motor seal plate.

(5 out of 5 stars) Seal Plate Replacement

Pros: Easy to install except for new gasket.
Cons: Challending to install gasket.
Replace my 5-year old unit because the center was scraped by the pump as a result of pump mis-alignment due to mount corrosion. Seal Plate was not exactly the same, but because there is additional space in the motor mount housing, it fits just fine. A bit leary at first, but once bolted up, everything lined right up and fit good. No leaks and now pump runs very quiet. The gasket is a bit of a chor to put on. I recommend Vasoline and two butter knives. Install the gasket, the mount the plate loosely. Gradually tighten bolts but use the butter knives to ensure the gasket is seating properly and not being pinched.

Just a reminder that you also need to purchase a pump seal. If you are taking your pump apart, half the seal is in this seal plate and half is in the impeller. So the pump seal is a separate item even though it is attached to the seal plate on your existing pump
