Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Hello Stephanie, The seals that will be used with the 5211x Motor 56j Thrd Up 1 Hp (b228se) would be determined by the model of your pump. Do you know what the model of your pump is?

I have an older Hayward pump. Don't see any numbers on it , but looks similar to
Hayward SP2610X15 . What seal kit would I need to use with this motor replacement?

Hi Glenn, If your pump looks similar to the Hayward SP2610X15, you will need p/n GOKIT3 or GOKIT3SALT. If you send us photos of the pump to upload@inyopools.com we can confirm which pump you have.

Yes, this motor is a compatible replacement. To find the correct seals we need to know the model number of your pump housing. Please advise.

After consulting with a specialist on your website I picked the motor that he suggested. I received a one horse century electric motor and installed it on my existing Hayward pump. After hooking up all the piping I started the motor and the pump worked perfect.

I purchased this motor May 2019. When I turned it on this year in March is made horrible noise. It finally stop working and I am waiting on replacement for it. I hope that the new one works for a LOT longer than 1 season.
