How many hours per day should I run my pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

Does this pump (Pentair SuperFlo 1.5hp) come with all the O-rings etc I will need when installing it? I am replacing an old version of the same pump.

Hi Samantha, Yes the Pentair SuperFlo will come will all O-rings needed for installation. You may need some basic plumbing fittings and glue based on your plumbing set up and those items can be picked up at local hardware store.

My pool which includes a spill over spa holds about 15,000 gallons. The current pool pump is a Sta Rite Dyna Glass MPRA6F-148 ( 1 1/2 Hp motor ) single speed pump. The tank and trap body has a crack in it. Will the Pentair 340039 superflo high performance single speed pump be a good replacement option for my pool.

Hi, Jim. The Superflo Pump has a lower performing pump than the MPRA6F-148L pump. I would recommend the MPEA6F-206L. If you want to use the Superflo Pump, you will need the 2 HP - 340040

I am replacing an old Pinnacle High Flo pump Centurion switchless motor for PAC-Fab. This pump was installed about 1998. 1 1/2 HP, 1.10 SF, Volts 230/115, Amps SF 8.0/16.0. Will the Pentair Superflo 1 1/2 HP High Performance pump replace this? What would you recommend?

Hi Lou, Yes the Super Flo 340039 would be a great replacement for your old Pinnacle Pump. The plumbing ports are not in the exact some location so you may have a little bit of re-plumbing.

Is there something you would recommend that the plumbing ports are in the same place?

Hi Louis, Unfortunately, there is not a pump that has the plumbing ports in the exact same location. You could just replace the motor and keep your old Pinnacle housing. If you wanted to go this route you would need this 1.5 HP Pinnacle Replacement Motor and this Pentair Pinnacle Seal Kit

Ok. That won’t do me any good. The problem I have is leaking. The plastic ahead of the motor wore out and created a hole. I have siliconed but kept leaking last year. Are the ports far off?

Hi Louis, I don't have the port locations for the Pinnacle but I have attached the Port locations for the Super Flo which can find attached. I don't believe they should be too far off.

One more question. With what I have there, is there another pump you recommend other than the Pentair SuperFlo or would that be my best bet?

Based on the price point I really like the Waterway 1.5 HP SMF Pump and the quality is really good. This Pentair SuperFlo would also be a good option as well.

Does the Pentair Superflo 340039 have its own power cord? The original model had its own dedicated plug.
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/4/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Joe, No this Superflo 340039 does not come with its own power cord. You would remove the power cord from your current pump and install it on this pump which is an easy swap out.

can you provide the link for the power plug part on your website. I cannot find it to purchase it.

Hi Joe, Here is a link to the 3 Prong Plug and Cord please note that the cord can only be used for 115V wiring and not 240V. Also note that for some applications you may be using a 115V Twist Lock Plug The difference between the two is that the first cord has a standard 3 prong plug and the second is a twist lock.

Hello, the correct single speed replacement motor for the original Superflo model 340039 pool pump is B854. You will also need a Pentair Superflo seal kit when you replace your motor. We put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.
