What does the impeller ring do? Do I need it?

Richard, The impeller ring provides protection for the impeller and also acts as a seal in between the impeller and diffuser. If your pump has an impeller ring, it is recommended that you continue to use it.

New wear ring is loose on my existing impeller and loose in new diffuser. Shouldn't it be snug on one or the other to keep it from spinning around?

Robert, The wear ring will not fit tight on the impeller. When installed, the wear ring should be able to move freely.

The pump is very noise at high speed. I have a ecostar pump. less noise at a lower speed. is there a bearing that would make the noise or impeller or what?

Hi, Craig. Noisy motors are usually caused by bad bearings. An impeller ring or impeller would not cause the pump to become noisy.

we open pump to replaced motor and we realized this impeller ring is missing. Is it necessarily we need to replace it? Thanks

Hi Dante, could you send us a few photos of your pump and motor? Not all pool pumps have an impeller ring. Please take a close up shot of the motor label as well as a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get those photos we can make the proper recommendation.
