Hi Austin you will require this 1.88 Total HP Dual Speed Motor for the motor included in your photo. You will also need a Hayward Tri-Star Seal Kit when you replace your motor. We put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.

Is the B2983 a suitable replacement for whisperflo wfe 6 1.5 motor?

 Reply

A  Answered on 4/30/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Robert M.

Yes, the B2983 could be used as a 2-speed motor option for the Whisperflo WFE-6. The motor does not come with a hi/lo switch. If you don't currently have a control system that can switch the speeds, you can order the toggle switch separately. The part number is 2512558-001.

Hi Albert, yes this is the correct replacement motor for your motor model SPX3215Z2BE. When replacing a pool motor we do suggest a Seal Kit. Could you send us a few photos of your pump so we can suggest the proper seal kit? If so then please take a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get those photos we can make the proper recommendation for your seal kit.

i think i also need the high/low switch to convert from single to dual. is there a seal kit for this model? can you link to that please.

Hi Norman, the toggle switch is part number 2512558-001 which is currently a special order however you can also use Intermatic dual speed timer part number T106R. And in order to locate the seals and gaskets, we will need ti to know the model name or number of the front pump housing wet end that the motor attaches to. Or you can provide an image of that pump housing here as well.

I need to buy this replacement motor. changing it for the first time, for Jandy 2 speed stealth pro series stealth pump. The pump has become noisy. Can you recommend the parts I need to buy along with this motor?. The label is attached. I know that I should buy a new seal. The pump seems to be expensive. Any discounts will be appreciated. Thanks Ipe

My system has Hi and Lo toggle switch for 2 speeds. Attaching old motor wired and and new motor empty leads. Could you guide me where black blue and red goes. Thank you

Just FYI, the connection you said was wrong, my connection was correct. When I attempted yours, the breaker went off. Luckily didn’t burn the pump. I reversed the connection as showed in the picture. Blue to L1, Red to L2 , black to A and Green to ground. I am attaching a link to my YouTube video which could help similar customers. I live in California that now requires a VSP. Other than a seal kit, does the switch to a VSP require additional components?
 Reply

Hi, Guest. A VSP requires 230 volt electrical and some requires an external timer. Otherwise, no additional components are required.

Hi, I'm replacing a Pentair WFE-6 /011514, and see you recommend this pump motor as a replacement. I have solar panels on my roof (two story home), will this be enough on low speed to circulate through the panels? Also, all my relays on my controller are used by other options (spa air pump, pool lights, spa lights, etc.) do you have any options for using the low speed in this situation? Thanks.
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/6/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi, Dan. Operating the pump on low speed will not provide enough water flow to operate the solar. I will need to know the model of your controller to find out your options.

What is Service Factor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/11/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Noisy Pump Motor

Written on 6/15/2018 by Guest

After reaching out to INYO Pool customer service to ensure that I knew which model to purchase and consulting the INYO Pool website to download the appropriate wiring diagram, I took the plunge and purchase a replacement motor with confidence that I could do the work myself. Armed with a Phillips screwdriver, a pair of wire cutters/strippers and a multimeter to confirm the power was shutoff (safety first), I was able to swap out my old, noisy motor with an OEM replacement in under two hours time. Everything fit perfectly and the new motor sounds great... and I did it all myself for less than half of what the pros quoted me! Thank you INYO Pool Products!
