Thank you for the information on your motor. To better assist you, we will also need the make and model of your pump. This information is typically listed on a label on the housing area, opposite the motor. Once we have this information, we can better answer your questions/concerns. Please let us know if you need help locating this information on your pump.

WILL THIS SEAL ALSO WORK FOR A 2 HP NORTH STAR SPX4000
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/3/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Alex V.

Randy, Yes and no. It will fit on that pump only if that is the seal you are replacing. Hayward made several changes to that model pump. The only way to get the correct seal is to purchase the impeller kit.

I have a Hayward pump Model #SP4007X10NS that needs a new pump motor (SPX1607Z1MNSC). What is the correct shaft seal part number for this pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 8/3/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Lennox H.

Hi FA, It depends on the year the pump was manufactured which were unable to tell by the model number. To ensure compatibility with the impeller Hayward recommends that you replace the Impeller Kit (SPX4007CKIT).

Am replacing a Hayward TriStar 2pd motor (SP3215Z2BER) with an AO Smith B2983 2 SPD 56Y Frame 230V EE pump, as I can not find the same motor. Do you have a recommended shaft seal for this pump?

A  Answered on 8/4/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Megan C.

Hello, Will. The direct replacement motor is the Motor, 1-1/2hp Full 2-speed Tristar 208/230v (spx3215z2ber, sp3215z2ber) Part number 5112-272. It is a special order item, that requires 2-3 weeks for delivery. The Pool Motor Square Flange 1.5 HP Full Rate Dual Speed w/ Digital Controller - B2983T is a great alternative. The Tri-Star has a HAYWARD NORTHSTAR/TRISTAR SHAFT SEAL (OEM) - SPX3200SA or Pump Seal, Extra Heavy Duty PS4280 (Saltwater Pools) - PS-4280 available to order. Click here to view all parts available for the Hayward Tri-Star.

Which side goes together and it is not a snug fit like the last one is that ok?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/4/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Adam Y.

Good morning John, The white ceramic touches the black lip of the spring side. The side with writing faces away. As long as the piece fits in the seal plate and they touch it will be ok.

Tri Star pump assembly leaking pretty badly at the bottom of the pump. Shaft seal? Best way to isolate leak? Thank you

Hi, Bob. I would recommend replacing the shaft seal along the other o-rings while you have the pump apart.

I replaced a NorthStar motor sp1620z1bnsc. I asked you what else I needed and you said the O ring and the seal assembly and you gave me one for the super pump. I ordered those and the seal assembly was loose when put over shaft. Put altogether and it is leaking. Which seal do I need and how do I return the other seal. order #1015401

Hi, David. The NorthStar Pump shaft seal is based on when the unit was manufactured or when the impeller as replaced. This Pump Shaft Seal - SPX3200SA is the other option since P/N SPX1600Z2 did not work. Return instructions will be emailed to you.

I have a Hayward pump. The only numbers I can find on it is SP3200Z13 (B). I recently replaced the motor with an A.O. Smith 1.5 HP Round Flange 56J Up Rate Motor - B229SE 5212X from you but did not replace any seals. The system has developed priming problems and I want to replace the motor shaft seal and other seals. Can you tell me what parts I need?

Thank you. How were you able to trace the part to this model number; S48K2A2? I just want to be sure this seal replacement matches with this Hayward jetted tub pump motor. Thank you!

Hi Barry, The only Hayward Pump that I'm aware of that did not use a strainer basket and was used on Hot Tubs was the Hayward Power Flo and this is what I based the shaft seal off of. Are there any Hayward Model Names on the pump or part #'s in the black plastic which start with "SP"? If so could you supply those to me? Thanks so much!

Hello! I believe the whirlpool pump we have is a Hayward SP1710SD Self priming Water Pump. Do you carry the replacement Seal for that model, even though I have been told the model is obsolete? Thank you once again! Barry

Hi Barry, Based on the Hayward SP1710SD part # you will need this Hayward Power Flo Shaft Seal Here is a link to the parts diagram for your Hayward SP1710SD Pump this diagram shows the strainer basket but you do not have that item.

Does this fit the 1.85hp pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/27/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Craig C.

Hello Louise.  The Hayward Shaft Seal SPX3200SA is compatible with the Hayward NorthStar model years 2003 to current, regardless of the motor horsepower.   The U. S. Seal Shaft Seal PS-201 is compatible with the Hayward NorthStar model years prior to 2003.  Attached please find an exploded parts diagram for the Hayward NorthStar Pump 2008 to Current.  Please complete a visual comparison between part Key 3 (pump housing) and your Pool Pump to verify shaft seal compatibility.
