i have an 18 by 36 ft pool 8ft to 4 ft depth. how many hours should i run the pump?
Hi Alan, Rule of thumb is that the pool pump should run one hour for every 10 degrees of the outside temperature. Or you use our How To: Size a Pool Pump guide to calculate the flow rate to determine the run time.
Could you give me the RPM for this Hayward Superpump 1 HP
All single-speed pool pumps should have a motor with 3,450 pumps should have a motor with 3450 RPMs.
I am replacing old pump with a new one .old was 115v connection. MOVEED black pug from 240 to 115 arrow.connected green wire to green terminal. where does the the white wire and then black wire terminate? there is L1 and L2 does it make a difference?
Les, If you are wiring for 115v, as long as you have one wire on line 1 and the other on line 2, it will work. This video may help:https://www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how_to_wire_a_pool_pump.aspx
I have a 20x40 in ground pool with water jets in the steps. What size pool pump do I need?
I have a 18 x 36 in ground pool, 4 ft deep shallow and 8 ft deep. I have a Hayward cartridge filter and 1 1/2 Hayward pool pump. The pump runs on 220 and the motor seems to be very hot. Can't put my hand on it. I go through a pump every 2 years. Any suggestions!!
Hi Denny, Several things can cause the motor to run hot, you can check out our Pool Motor Troubleshooting blog for more info.
I am replacing the motor on my SP2607X10 pump. I know I need to replace other items as well. Is there a kit with all the seals & gaskets that I need to replace as well?
I am getting ready to install a 14x28 foot in ground pool (around 15,000 gallons). The pump is a 1.5 hp with a flow rate of 88 gpm. I need a flow rate of 32 gpm to filter in 8 hrs. The max flow on my 24" filter is 45 gpm. I have 45 feet of head. Based on that a 1 hp pump would supply 50 gpm. Do I really need the 1.5 hp pump? At 42 feet of head it still pumps at 67 GPM. Isn't that to high?
The 1 HP would work just fine for that size of pool. You definitely need a 1.5 HP though if you start adding features such as, a fountain, a spa, solar heat pump, pool cleaner. Adding any of these features will require more horsepower since the flow rate will be divided up by each addition feature.
A cheaper pool pump I've looked at says it shouldn't be exposed to rain/ weather. Can the Hayward pump be completely exposed to the weather??
Hi Sandy, This pump can be placed outside exposed to the weather, however it will affect the life span of the pump. The less exposed it is the longer it will last.
what is the difference between the single and 2 speed Hayward motor?
Hi Fred, A single speed motor runs at 3450 RPM for the desired run time and a two-speed motor can run at 3450/1725/ RPM for the desired run time.
I have a 15k gallon pool with a 60 sqft Hayward DE filter. Thinking of replacing the pump to cut down on the electric bill. Currently, I have a PAC-FAB Challenger 2HP pump. Seems to me the pump and filter are overkill for the size of the pool. Can I use a lower HP pump on the 60 sqft filter? What pump would you suggest?
Hello Rich, yes you can go with a few different pumps, SP3007X10AZ, or SP3200VSP Offering up to 90% energy cost savings over single-speed pool pump alternatives via an integrated variable-speed drive and totally-enclosed, permanent magnet motor, TriStar VS is an ideal pool upgrade for those looking to reduce energy use and save money.
My current in ground pool has a pump that plugs into a regular outlet. Do your 3/4hp pumps require a 220 line? Also how about if I go up to a 1hp model?
Hello Rick - The 3/4HP and 1HP Hayward Super Pumps are dual voltage (115/230).
I have an old filter wet institute system in my inground swimming pool 24,000 gallons. I would like to replace this old wet institute with the Hayward system How big of a job is this
Hi Jill, the biggest question would be what is the current state of your plumbing, but normally this would be a relatively easy weekend DIY project. We have a good Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump which should give you a better idea of what is involved in this project.

What is the overall length
Hi Loyd. The overall length of a Hayward Super Pump 1 HP Single Speed is 24".
I have an 18' x 36' in ground pool that is 3' in shallow end of pool and 8' in deep end. I have a Jandy ei salt machine. My flow light will not go off on the salt machine. My current pump is a 1 hp. One of the trouble shooting answers to the Jandy Salt machine says that when the flow light stays on it could be that the pump is not strong enough. Based upon what I have provided do you think I need a 1 1/2 hp pump?
Hi Bo, The very first thing I would do is follow the steps in our guide on How to Correct Low Pool Pressure many times these simple steps will fix your flow issue.
Hello please help,i have unground pool 16/38 and 8 feet down about 24.000 gallons water, also have sand filter 18'' 150 lb sand, which best pump i need to buy???? Thank you.
Hi Lora, As long as this pump will not be powering any water features like waterfalls, solar or spa jets then the 1 HP Hayward Super Pump on this page would be my recommendation.
I need to replace my AO Smith pump C48k2n143b1n, sp-1607-21-m is this the right item?
Yes if you were looking to replace the complete pump which includes the pump housing, basket and motor then this would be the correct pump.
I am thinking on buying a new pump. I have very little to no suction at that skimmer. I have blown the line and it is not plugged. I have replaced all fittings and valves and still not very good suction. The drain one at the bottom of pool works great. Without skimmer working I can't clean pool. I was wondering if a bigger pump would help. I currently have a 1hp.
Lloyd what is the distance of pipe from the pump to the skimmer which is have the bad flow? What is the distance of pipe from the pump to the main drain? Do you know the pipe size for the skimmer line? How about pipe size for the main drain line? What happens when you turn your diverter valve so you shut off the main drain and all of the suction is going to the skimmer?
We are building a pool... So the dimensions are 24 x 10 and 5 feet deep... What's the best pump please
If you do not have any water features likes waterfalls, solar, runs of pipe exceeding 70' or spa jets then I love the 1 HP Hayward Super Pump.
Replacing a Whisperflo WF-26 1.5 hp. Would the SP2607X10 1 hp pump be a good replacement? GPM=45 & Distance to Head=approx. 43' If so, what is the price of the pump with an EE motor?
I currently have a 1 HP Pac Fac Pinnacle pump would the 1 HP Hayward Super Pump be a comparable replacement?
Hi Patrick - Yes the Hayward 1 HP Super Pump would be a great replacement for the discontinued 1 HP Pac Fab Pinnacle Pump.
just want to make sure i am ordering the correct item. my current pump as the model number as SP2607X10 and the serial number as 21120805002046020. its labeled as a hayward pool produtcs item. please advised, thank you.
Hello Shawn - The Hayward SP2607X10 is the correct replacement pump.
I have a Hayward SP1607X10. Is that a previous version of sp2607X10? Will parts for one be the same as parts for the other?
You are correct that is the predecessor to the to the sp2607x10. The parts will work for either pump.
How much is the power consumption difference each hour between 1.5 HP and 1 HP pool pump by KW.
A typical 1 HP pump has a power consumption of 1.5 Killowatts per hour (KWH) and a 1.5 HP pump is at about 2.3 KWH
How many hours per day should I run my pump?
There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

(5 out of 5 stars) Workhorse Pump
Reviewed By: Benjamin R. from Caldwell, NJ ()
I ordered this pump to replace an existing Hayward Super Pump. I had never done any type of pool plumbing but the videos seemed to simplify the whole process. The Super Pump itself worked perfectly fine. One nit. Watch that the drain plug is completely closed. Mine wasn't and I saw what I thought was a good sized leak. Closing it rectified the problem. I installed this pump with two unions to make future pump maintenance easy. One recommendation I would make it is wire the pump before the plumbing. In my case, it was a little difficult getting the wire into the pump housing.

Pros: Easy to install and maintain
Best pump in the business. Easy to install and more importantly, easy to work on. It is designed to last as most parts that come in contact with water are not metal
