How many hours per day should I run my pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

Hi, can this pump be used with a salt water chlorinator [generator] made in South Africa by Justchlor which requires a salt level of 6000ppm by weight, yes I know most USA systems call for 3500ppm. After 27 months my pump motor bearing is whining badly and I presume the shaft seal has gone, I see Hayward has a kit with a salt shaft seal, do you stock this pump "salt ready" if this is what I need?

The SP2610X15 is a 1.5HP 230/115v single speed pump that can be used with salt water pools. The main issue with a higher salt ppm level is that the salt will corrode the rubber seals and any metals that it comes in contact with at a quicker rate. Unfortunately the pump does not come "salt ready". You would have to purchase a salt water tune up kit separately. I recommend changing the shaft seal every season with a salt water pool to prevent shaft seal failure.

The water pressure seems to be week as it exits into the pool. Does the motor lose efficiency over time or maybe the empeler needs to be replaced.

Motors will run full speed until the day they freeze up and stop. The most likely culprit is the filter. Trying this : if you have a sand or DE filter - put the multiport on re-circulate. If you have a cartridge, remove the element from the tank. Then turn the system on. If this returns the system to its usual power , you know you have to clean, or get new filter media. If that does not help, there could also be debris wrapped around the impeller. You can try to reach it by removing the basket and putting your hand in, or you have to separate the motor from the housing to really get at it.

My variable speed pump was loosing it's prime while in service.

Written on 5/28/2020 by Guest

Having owned a Hayward Super Pump in the past. I knew what expect. The installation was quite easy. I reused the 220V power cord because it matched up to the twist lock receptacle I had. The existing unions were old so I purchased new unions from Inyo Pools when I purchased the pump. This allowed me to cut out the pump with a saws all and position the pump where I wanted.
