Can this pump replace my broken pump motor
Hi, The direct replacement would be this BN37 Replacement Motor if you are wanting to go up to the BN50 for a higher HP then we would need for you to post a wide shot of your complete pump showing the pipes going in and out of the pump. This would allow us to suggest the proper impeller you will need to replace as well. Click reply below to post photos.

I need to replace my pool motor: motor MOD: K48M2PA105C4, HP 1 1/2, I do t know if it’s one or two speed motor, for a 20K gallons below ground pool. I also need the seals. See the attached picture for more information. Please recommend.
The correct replacement motor for your pool pump is the...Century 1.5 HP Square Flange 48Y Full Rate Motor - SQ1152The Tune-Up Kit depends of the actual manufacturer and model of your pump (not your motor). It looks like from the pictures it might be a Pentair. If you have the model you can go to this page and find the kit for your model...Go-Kits

Hi Thomas, Thanks for the photos! You would actually need this BN37 Replacement Motor and you will also need this Carvin SharkJet Shaft Seal

The replacement pump you are suggesting is a 1hp pump. The one I currently have is a 1.5hp. Does this matter?
Reply
Hi Thomas, Yes this would be the correct replacement motor. Carvin uses a SPL HP which means the 1.5 SPL HP is the same as the 1 HP Standard HP, I know it is confusing but the motor suggest would be correct, you will notice that the amps on your motor and the suggested motor are very similar and that will be the most important thing to match up on.

Is this a replacement for a Marathon C1246 1.5 HP Motor ???
Reply
Hi Phil, the direct single-speed replacement motor for the motor catalog number C1246 is the USQ1152. It is also recommended to replace the seals when replacing the motor. We would just need to know the model name or number of the front pump wet end housing that the motor attaches to in order to confirm that for you. You can also upload a few images of that housing in a reply here if you need assistance with that.

I bought the Century 1.5 HP Thru-Bolt 48Y Dual Speed Motor - BN50V1 and I noticed that it does not come with an attached electrical chord. Is this normal? I am replacing my existing motor model # SD - 20-2N11MD. Part # 3420610-2014. It has a twist lock 3 prong plug.
Can I use that same plug on the new motor?
Hi Scott, Yes this is normal and you will remove cord from current motor and install on the new motor.
Reply
So I must purchase elsewhere? Can I not use this motor? The part is for your motor right? Do you not know what type seal to use?
Reply
Yes, we do carry the BN50V1 and I was able to locate on Carvin/Jacuzzi's web page that the shaft seal is part number 5250-1212. We just do not carry the actual complete seal kit, the complete pump or those pump main parts besides the motor.

Correct replacement? I ask also because the original is 2hp while this motor is 1.5hp. Is this an issue? Thanks!
Mike, Yes, the BN50 would be the correct replacement. A 2.0 HP SPL is actually a 1.5 HP. The "SPL" is a special rating that some manufacturers use to rate their pumps an motors. Please be sure to change your shaft seal when you replace the motor.

can this motor's speed be varied or are the rpms fixed?

Hello, normally on a single speed motor the RPM is 3450, but for a duel it's 3450/1725. This BN50 is a duel speed motor which has 1.5hp or .25hp.

Can you tell me which "tuneup" o-ring seal kit to get for this pump?
Thanks,

Hi Bob, We do not have a tune up kit available for the 6500-345 model pump but the Jacuzzi Shaft Seal 200 3/4" (10150209) and Cover Gasket (47025853) are the parts needed. If you need any other parts they can be found on the Jacuzzi Piranha Series Pump Parts page.

I'm trying to find a replacement motor for my pool pump but my model number doesn't match what you have listed as the model number. My model number begins with a C48 and yours begins with an SP. Please help.
Reply
What we have listed on our chart pages is the pump model number. The model number you have will just identify the motor. If you look on the plastic housing on the pump there should be a sticker which will have the pump model number. You can usually find this by the discharge port on the pump. Once you locate it you can choose the correct replacement motor. Be certain to change the shaft seal and gaskets as needed. You can use our >How to guide if you need help.Â

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?
Reply
A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.
Reply
Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?
Reply
We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Can you replace single speed pump motor with dual speed pump motor?
Reply
Yes but you can't go with a higher HP than the single speed motor. For example if you have a 1 HP single speed you cannot go with a 1.5 HP dual speed motor; you would be able to use a 1 HP dual speed motor. Customer would need to purchase a toggle switch or timer to switch from high speed to low speed.

Pros: Does what it should - well constructed.
Cons: Little bigger (about 1.5" higher) than what I replaced/the web picture is different than what I received.
The website made it easy to identify the correct replacement motor and order. The motor was a fit, form, functional replacement and worked for the application. The new motor arrived in good condition - not damaged. It was easy to install - the back end of the shaft accommodates a 7/16 wrench which can be used to tighten whatever is attached to the threaded end.
