My current motor on my Hayward Max Flo SP2810X15 is a ST1152. Your website says the replacement motor is a UST1152. Is there any difference or would it make a difference if I purchased the UST1152? I am not sure why we purchased the one we currently have. I did notice the Max load Amps are different and the SF. I am thinking that this current pump did not last as long as the previous ones.

Hello Craig.  The Century Motors 1.5 HP Full Rate Motor model ST1152 has a total horsepower (THP) of 2.25.  The Century Motors 1.5 HP Up Rte Motor model UST1152 has a THP of 1.5.  The correct replacement for your ST1152 is another ST1152.  The pump's impeller is mated to the THP of the motor.  The impeller size determines the gallons per minute (GPM) the pump is capable of circulating.   Reducing THP and using the same impeller places additional operational stress on the motor, shortening its life span.  Century 1.5 HP Round Flange 56J Full Rate Motor - ST1152   The GOKIT1 contains the seals necessary to replace concurrent with the new motor.  Hayward MaxFlo SP2800X Series

Hello Paul.  The A.O. Smith/Century Motors model BN50 - Dual Speed is no longer available.  It has been replaced with the Century Motors model BN50V1 -Dual Speed.  If you wish to return to a Dual Speed motor, the BN50V1 is the correct replacement.  If you wish to remain with a Single Speed motor, the UST1152 is the correct replacement.   The life span of any given motor is related to a number of factors:  hours/day of operation, the motor temperature during operation (direct sun exposure/shade), motor ventilation, moisture content of the environment in which the motor is operating, filter pressure, water chemistry, to identify a few.  Attached please find a brief tutorial on the topic of Pump Motor Life Span.    How To Maintain a Pool Pump Motor

Hello Will.  Both motors have a 1.5 Horsepower (HP) rating.  The SN1152 has a Service Factor (SF) rating of 1.6 for a Total Horsepower (THP) rating of 2.4.  HP x SF = THP   The UST1152 has a SF rating of 1.0, for a THP of 1.5.    The motor barrel diameter on the  SN1152 is larger than the UST1152.  The UST1152 is not a compatible replacement for the SN1152.     Century 1.5 HP Full Rate NorthStar Replacement Motor - SN1152

I recently replaced my original pump motor: century 1.5hp with 1.5 sf I installed a century 1.5 hp with 1.0 sf I realize that i have cut back on actual horsepower,,,,but does this matter? I used same original impeller.....will this present a problem with flow or overworking the motor.....motor is extremely hot after a few min or run time.
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/24/2021 by InyoPools Product Specialist Danny R.

Yes, this will cause an issue.  You need to use the proper HP motor that is the same as the HP rating of your pump.  Just like you said the impeller and some of the other internals of the pump are made for the HP motor.  I typically recommend if you want to decrease or increase your HP just swap out the entire pump.  If you do not your pool pump motor will burn out.

Hi Jonathan, This is indeed the correct replacement motor. When you first look at your motor it looks like a Square Flange motor however it is indeed a Round Flange motor. There is a motor mounting plate on your motor and when removed it will uncover a round flange motor. This can be seen better by viewing this Hayward Super Pump Parts Diagram see key 14 and key 22

What motor to replace in a 2005 Jacuzzi Magnum Force (15UMF-S)? AOSmith motor label doesn't include Cat No, but shows part number of 7-184949-22. I only find cross ref to a B654 motor, but it doesn't match the same specs - see pics. (1.1SF, 230/115v, 8.0/16.0amp, 3450rpm, DPenc, Type CX) I'm coming down to either a UST-1152 or ST-1152 but both have differing SF. If the motor is slightly different than current, do i need to change impeller and seal housing based on motor? Help please. thanks

However, if you want to upgrade those parts to take full advantage of the increase in flow, you'd need the 2HP parts. Hi David, The UST1152 or the UCT1152 are not the correct replacement motors for the motor and pump in your photos. You would require this B2854 1.5 HP 56Y Replacement Motor Normally a humming sound indicates a bad capacitor. We have put together this guide which will show you How to Test for a Bad Capacitor if you do determine it is a bad capacitor then follow this guide here on How to Select the Proper Replacement Capacitor. Hi Larry, in some cases when a system isn't properly sized correctly and there is not enough flow, or when features are added to a system is it a good idea to upgrade the motor but most often keeping the same one is wisest. The two motors do have different sizes. Please see the "size" image beneath the main images of these motors on their pages to compare dimensions.

I have a 13000 in ground and hot tub. I have replace the motor many time, and don’t remember the original. I currently have a UST1102, which worked flawlessly for 5 years, but was run dry and seized. Is the UST1152 a proper replacement? Will I need anything else like a tune up kit, different size impeller or diffuser for my MaxFloHayward? And what is the octopus looking thing, and is there a repair or rebuild kit for it? Many Thanks

Hello, the correct single speed replacement motor for the motor included in your photo is the UST1102. Being that your system has been working well with this motor then I would suggest keeping the same motor model on there. You will also need a Hayward Super II seal kit when you replace your motor. We put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project.

Hi James, the correct single speed replacement motor for your motor part number 184949 is the B129. When replacing a pool motor we do suggest a Seal Kit. Could you send us a few photos of your pump so we can suggest the proper seal kit? If so then please take a wide shot of the complete pump to include the pipes going in and out of the pump. To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get those photos we can make the proper recommendation for your seal kit.

The six bolts you are referring to in the picture are for your pump housing's seal plate. If you compare the picture of the  UST1152 on this product page and the one on your pump, you can see the 4 bolt flanges on the end of the motor barrel that mounts to the seal plate.

I have a Hayward sp1607z1m motor that needs replaced, is the UST1152 motor the correct motor to replace it with?

Hi. The UST1102 is the correct replacement, however, this UST1152 will also work.

Is there a seal kit for purchase that has all items that need replacing? I am not sure what all needs to be replaced when changing motor. I know the shaft seal is important but are there more?

Do you have information on the front half of your pump? The best place to find your pump model information is on the pump housing tag. Pool pump manufacturers label each housing with make and model information as well as serial numbers. The pump model number is the golden ticket to finding the proper tune up kit, so we will want to find that most of all. The tag is usually placed on the side of the strainer basket or near the discharge port for easy access. Model number formats vary depending on the manufacture but should be marked clearly.
