My current motor on my Hayward Max Flo SP2810X15 is a ST1152. Your website says the replacement motor is a UST1152. Is there any difference or would it make a difference if I purchased the UST1152? I am not sure why we purchased the one we currently have. I did notice the Max load Amps are different and the SF. I am thinking that this current pump did not last as long as the previous ones.

Hello Craig. The Century Motors 1.5 HP Full Rate Motor model ST1152 has a total horsepower (THP) of 2.25. The Century Motors 1.5 HP Up Rte Motor model UST1152 has a THP of 1.5. The correct replacement for your ST1152 is another ST1152. The pump's impeller is mated to the THP of the motor. The impeller size determines the gallons per minute (GPM) the pump is capable of circulating. Reducing THP and using the same impeller places additional operational stress on the motor, shortening its life span. Hello Paul. The A.O. Smith/Century Motors model BN50 - Dual Speed is no longer available. It has been replaced with the Century Motors model BN50V1 -Dual Speed. If you wish to return to a Dual Speed motor, the BN50V1 is the correct replacement. If you wish to remain with a Single Speed motor, the UST1152 is the correct replacement. The life span of any given motor is related to a number of factors: hours/day of operation, the motor temperature during operation (direct sun exposure/shade), motor ventilation, moisture content of the environment in which the motor is operating, filter pressure, water chemistry, to identify a few. Hello Will. Both motors have a 1.5 Horsepower (HP) rating. The SN1152 has a Service Factor (SF) rating of 1.6 for a Total Horsepower (THP) rating of 2.4. HP x SF = THP The UST1152 has a SF rating of 1.0, for a THP of 1.5. The motor barrel diameter on the SN1152 is larger than the UST1152. The UST1152 is not a compatible replacement for the SN1152. I recently replaced my original pump motor: century 1.5hp with 1.5 sf
I installed a century 1.5 hp with 1.0 sf
I realize that i have cut back on actual horsepower,,,,but does this matter?
I used same original impeller.....will this present a problem with flow or overworking the motor.....motor is extremely hot after a few min or run time.
Reply
Yes, this will cause an issue. You need to use the proper HP motor that is the same as the HP rating of your pump. Just like you said the impeller and some of the other internals of the pump are made for the HP motor. I typically recommend if you want to decrease or increase your HP just swap out the entire pump. If you do not your pool pump motor will burn out.

Hello Weldy. Your current 2-speed motor has a total horsepower (THP) of 1.95. THP = HP X SF Information from your motor plate: 1.5HP X 1.3SF = 1.95. What motor to replace in a 2005 Jacuzzi Magnum Force (15UMF-S)? AOSmith motor label doesn't include Cat No, but shows part number of 7-184949-22. I own a Hayward Super Pump SP2610X15. Can I fit a dual 2.0 hp motor onto my pump? If so please leave me a link to purchase...
Reply
Yes, you could put a 2HP 2-speed motor on your Hayward Super Pump. The 2HP 2-speed motor is model STS1202. You can use your existing 1.5HP impeller and diffuser. However, if you want to upgrade those parts to take full advantage of the increase in flow, you'd need the 2HP parts. The impeller would be part number 5110-10F and the diffuser would be part number 5110-09EA.

I go through a pump about every 4 years. The pool is 26,000 gallons. The pump is a Hayward Super Pump 1.5 HP. Should I move to a 2 HP motor.
If so, can I do so keeping everything else the same.
Hi Larry, if you were to go up in horsepower we would recommend going with a variable speed model so you would not be stuck with a high HP if the suction and water pressure ended up too much for your system. Here is a guide that we put together called "How to Size a Pool Pump for Your In-Ground Pool" that may assist.

I have this motor and it won't start, just hums when turned on. My motor has a an external piece on the housing that I don't see in the picture. (see photo) One of the replies says this motor doesn't have a start capacitor, but the UCT1152 does have an external capacitor. Is that what I'm seeing on mine? If so could that be the issue causing the humming? This motor is just barely 2 years old. I really hope I don't have to replace it again. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Hi David, The UST1152 or the UCT1152 are not the correct replacement motors for the motor and pump in your photos. You would require this B2854 1.5 HP 56Y Replacement Motor Normally a humming sound indicates a bad capacitor. We have put together this guide which will show you How to Test for a Bad Capacitor if you do determine it is a bad capacitor then follow this guide here on How to Select the Proper Replacement Capacitor. If you do decide to replace the entire motor then you will need this Jandy PHPM Seal Kit when you replace your motor. Hi, We dont carry the exact variable speed motor which is on your Hayward Super Pump, but this Century 1.65 HP Variable Speed Motor would be a suitable replacement as long as you are not using an indoor automated control system like the Hayward Aqualogic, ProLogic or Jandy Aqua Link. You will also need this Haywad Super Pump Seal Kit when replacing your motor.

Hello,
I own this pump - recently its started shutting down after about an hour of use. This is a very obvious burning smell coming from it when it shuts off. I did check the impeller for blocks and also replaced all seals, its still happening. If i buy this, i would like to try to wire it using eyelets or clips instead of having the wires sit under the screws. Can you recommend something? Thanks in advance! -carlos
Hi, Carlos. You can use the Flanged Fork Terminal, Blue 16-14 AWG #8 Stud (Pkg 25) - 60-555-1750.

I am trying to replace an old single speed motor/pump with the Hayward MaxFlo XL. After opening the box, I noticed a label on the motor (Century K48AA35A04) stating I need an additional controller to switch between speeds. I have a Intermatic T40004R timer currently. Can you recommend the easiest (and least expensive) controller to use? The toggle switch looks good but I am not sure which one will work.

The motor of my Hayward Pool Pump with housing identification of SP2610X15 was replaced 8 years ago with the UST1152, after 9 years with the original motor. My question is whether it would make sense or be beneficial to replace the impeller and diffuser this time considering the age of each part. If so, could you tell me the correct part numbers based on my housing identification. Also, if replacing these parts would I still need the tune up kit? Thank you!
Bob
Reply
If the impeller or diffuser are severely worn, cracked or broken then yes I would recommend replacing these however, if not then they should be okay. The part number for that impeller is 5110-10DA, the diffuser is 5110-09A, the seal kit for a chlorine pool is GOKIT3 and for a saltwater pool is GOKIT3SALT.

looking for replacement in ground pool pump to replace A.O. Smith corp ust1152 mod c48l2n134c1.
noticed your version had only 4 mounting bolts. Mine has 6 mounting bolts.
The six bolts you are referring to in the picture are for your pump housing's seal plate. If you compare the picture of the UST1152 on this product page and the one on your pump, you can see the 4 bolt flanges on the end of the motor barrel that mounts to the seal plate.

Do you have information on the front half of your pump? The best place to find your pump model information is on the pump housing tag. Pool pump manufacturers label each housing with make and model information as well as serial numbers. The pump model number is the golden ticket to finding the proper tune up kit, so we will want to find that most of all. The tag is usually placed on the side of the strainer basket or near the discharge port for easy access. Model number formats vary depending on the manufacture but should be marked clearly.
