A  Answered on 5/23/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Bill, Yes this is the correct replacement motor for you s48a53a03 motor. The most common Sta-Rite pump this motor was used on was the JWPA series, if you have a JWPA pump then you would require the Sta-Rite JWPA Shaft Seal. If you don't have the JWPA pump then send us an email with your pump model or a picture of your pump and we will let you know the shaft seal you need.

I have an Optiflo 347986 1.5 HP that I need to replace. I'd like to replace it with a 1 HP duel speed motor. Can you help me with the replacement including shaft seal kit? Also, does it come with an on/off switch including toggling between the speeds? Thanks
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/1/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi George, If you replaced your 1.5 hp motor with a 1 HP dual speed motor then this would require that you replace your motor, impeller, tune up kit and you would need to purchase a switch separately. All of these items would cost more than a new 1 HP dual speed pump. With this being said I would suggest the 1 HP Dual Speed Dynamo Pump the Dynamo pump does have the hi / lo switch integrated into the motor. It does not come with a cord as you would use the cord from your old pump for the new pump.

Good morning Don, Unfortunately we do not carry that motor. The only way to get that low of a horsepower is to get a dual speed and run it on its low setting. You do not have to get the same horsepower but if you change the size of the motor you will have to change the impeller to match. By changing the impeller you are pumping more water changing pressure and flow. Here is a link to all the parts we sell for that current pump. Vico Ultima & Ultima Plus Pump Parts

Single-speed motors go out wired for 230v just in case the supply voltage is wrong. You can supply 110v to a 230v motor without doing damage, supplying 230v to a motor wired for 110v will cause damage. Take the black wire that should be on the # 5 terminal & move it to the # 6 terminal.

Generally what you are describing is sending 220v to a motor wired for 115v, which will do exactly as described. Sending 115v to a motor set up for 220v does not usually create any damage. see images we added

Does this pump replace my old pump.?...because I have a 2hp pump...and don't want to go lower on hp...unless this is my only option?...and will the plug end be the same?......see photos

A  Answered on 4/28/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Bob, Yes this motor is the exact same power as your motor in the photo. You have 2 HP SPL and the SPL HP is identical to a standard 1.5 HP motor. The motors do not come with a cord and plug so you would remove your cord and plug from your old motor and attach it the new motor. The process is quite simple just remove a few screws.

I am looking to replace my pool motor/pump. The brand was waterway, serial # SD140207 0020, model # SD-15-2N11CC, part # PEW2150-3GRP. Can you tell me whether this pump would replace it or which pump could be compatible?

 Reply

A  Answered on 4/28/2020 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Becky, You would actually need this BN37V1 Motor the BN37V1 is a 1 HP standard motor and your motor is a 1.5 SPL motor. The 1 HP and 1.5 HP SPL are the identical HP.  Your current motor is a dual-speed motor and the BN37V1 is a dual-speed where this BN35V1 is a single speed.

I need a replacement motor for my pool pump. It has a 1.5 hp Hayward single speed motor, model number is SP1515-Z-1-ESC. I seen the BN35V1 motor for sale on your web site and lists several alternate part numbers on it. There are several part numbers listed that are almost identical but are missing the "C" or the "S". Would this motor still be compatible with my Hayward Power Flo Matrix SP1593 Pump?

Yes, this would be a compatible replacement motor for the model SP1515-Z-1-ESC motor.

I have a Magnetek 1.5 hp 240vac motor. It just hums when i apply power. I replaced the 25uF capacitor. It started once, then hummed on the next start try. I'm going to try a 30uF capacitor. If that doesn't work, what motor do I need as a replacement and do you have a replacement seal ring and/or thru bolts too? Thank You

Thanks Tony thats exactly what we needed! You will require this STS1102 Dual Speed Replacement Motor as well as this Jacuzzi Magnum Tune-Up Kit. The motor suggested is a 1 HP Full Rate Motor which is the exact same HP as your 1.5 HP Up Rate motor. The math works as follows 1 HP Full Rate = 1 HP x 1.65 Service Factor = True HP of 1.65 and 1.5 HP Up Rate = 1.5 HP x 1.10 Service Factor = True HP of 1.65. The new motor has an external capacitor so you will need to slide the motor nut which secures the motor to the pump over the front side of the motor and not the backside.

Hello.  According to Pentair, the Magnetek Century 1.5 HP Thru-Bolt Motor model BN35V1 is a compatible replacement motor for the Pentair Optiflo Pump model 340078.  The Impeller does not need to be changed with the new motor installation.  It is recommended that the motor shaft seal and seal plate o-ring be changed concurrent with the new motor.  Pump Shaft Seal 5/8" - PSR-200    O-Ring, 5-1/2" ID, 3/16" - 357 O-150

A  Answered on 3/31/2022 by InyoPools Product Specialist Rich N.

Hi Joel, the BN35V1 motor is not quite correct.  Your 1-1/2 SPL HP Dynamo Pump actually uses this BN25V1 motor (the amps are the dead giveaway).  Manufacturers play games with horsepower ratings, and there is no industry standard for the definition of SPL or "Special" horsepower. Don't forget to use the GOKIT46 Tune-Up Kit when you replace the motor for all new o-rings and a new motor shaft seal.

Hi Jerry, yes, your 1.5HP Waterco SupaMite Pump uses the Century 1.5 HP Thru-Bolt 48Y Motor - BN35V1 as the replacement motor.  We recommend ordering a new motor shaft seal, pump body o-ring, and diffuser gasket to make it work like new and remain leak-free for a long time.

Hello Jared, the correct motor replacement for your motor part number s48aa11a79 is the BN25. These "SPL" labels often confuse pool owners. When replacing a pool pump motor we also recommend replacing the seals and gaskets. For your Waterway Eco Kleer pool pump the seals most commonly replaced are key numbers 11, and 14 on the parts diagram that you can view by clicking here
