The GOKIT3SALT includes the heavy duty viton and carbon shaft seal. The heavy duty seals are designed for salt chlorine generators and ozonators.

A  Answered on 10/14/2014 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Both Gokits will have the same items, except  the gokit3 has a standard shaft seal made of standard rubber, the gokit3salt has a shaft seal that is made of VITON which will be able to handle the minerals in a salt pool longer.

 Reply

A  Answered on 10/15/2014 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The seal kit can help with loss of prime. I can't guarantee that it will solve your problem. The loss of prime could be from an air leak at the valves or plumbing in front of the pump.

I purchased this kit for the Hayward SuperPump SP2610X15. The spring seal is of a different design than the one that came off the pump. The Original spring seal has a rubber section on the bottom and expands over two "nubs" that are on the impeller shaft, and accommodate a ridge/step at the base. The new one will not fit over the impeller shaft, and has no way to accommodate the step. Any help would be appreciated.
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/8/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Robert M.

Hello Tom - It sounds like you still have a piece of the old shaft seal on the shaft of the impeller. The metal piece with the two nubs needs to be removed from the impeller. Once that is removed, you will be able to install the new shaft seal.

A  Answered on 6/15/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Dennis R.

Gary, If the cracked terminal and stripped screw are giving you a loose connection, you could be drawing excessive amps which could be tripping your breaker. Or your Motor bearings or windings could be going bad.

 Reply

A  Answered on 2/2/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Andy O.

Bary- The GOKIT3SALT would be the correct kit to prevent leaking into the motor bearings. Unfortunately, it sounds like water has already reached the internal bearings on the motor, which is why it is getting very loud. To correct the issue, you would either need to change the bearings in the motor or change the entire motor with its replacement which would be the UST1102 A.O. Smith 1 HP Round Flange Up Rate Motor.

Hello Craig - The difference between this kit and the standard kit is the shaft seal. The shaft seal in the salt kit is specifically designed for salt water. The materials include viton elastomers, a carbon primary ring, a polished ceramic seal and stainless steel hardware. We definitely recommend this kit for salt pools.

When I went to commission the pool this year, the motor was seized at the shaft. I was able to free the motor with a little persuasion and WD-40. I converted to a salt water generator 3 seasons ago and never did anything to the pump to adapt to salt water. the pump seal did show signs of a leak

Ultimately it will depend on the total horse power of your pump but you may be able to use the model SP2603VSP Hayward Super Pump Variable Speed Pump, the Pureline prime PL2606 or even the Pureline Prime PL2605. Keep in mind that you do have an older design so there may be slight plumbing adjustments but not much.

The UCT1152 is an energy efficient model drawing slightly less amperage. Also, it is recommended to replace the seals and gaskets. In order to cross-reference which seals that you would need, we would need to know the model name or number of the front pump housing that the motor bolts to. If you do not have that information then you can send us images of that housing to upload@inyopools.com

I bought the UCT1102 a couple of years back and it has worked fine but this year it is buzzing, still pumping water but I also see a leak from underneath which sounds like a bad shaft seal so I presume I need to install another Saltwater tuneup kit. What about a bearing as well? Is that was is causing the buzzing? Thanks.

A  Answered on 6/27/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

Loud noises coming from the pump are usually the motor bearings and if you see leaking then ideally a new seal kit or shaft seal may need to be replaced. These are the most common causes and resolutions for what you are describing but may need a further inspection to confirm.

I have a question regarding replacement motors. I keep hearing people say you have to buy go-kits when replacing motor. I understand that you should replace the housing gasket and impeller seal. But i find it very HARD to believe you would have to replace the shaft seal. If the replacement motor is brand NEW why in the world would you replace the shat seal on a new motor. ????????
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/23/2018 by InyoPools Product Specialist Hector F.

The shaft seal is the most important seal to replace because it is the seal that keeps the water from making contact with the face of the electrical motor. If that seal is bad it can cause the motor bearings to fail and the motor to go bad prematurely to the average lifespan of the motor.

If I have a Hayward Super Pump SP2607X10 and I am using an “aftermarket” pump motor (for instance, Pureline PL2518), does it matter what shaft seal is used? In other words, do “aftermarket” pump motor mfg’s use different motor shafts sizes on their motors than the original pump mfg’s? Or, are “aftermarket” motor mfg’s required to use specific size motor shafts for the respective pump applications they are spec’d for?

Hi Jeffrey, the seal kits are specific to the pumps and not the motors - and all of the motors are manufactured to the same specifications as the original equipment.  This GoKit3Salt will work perfectly with your new motor on your Hayward Super Pump.

Hello. I have a 2 HP Hayward Super Pump (installed in 2017) Model: SP2615X20 with Motor - Century Model: K48M2N111 The motor runs and pumps fine with no visible leaks but there is a loud whine like the bearings are going bad. Can the tune up kit take care of this issue without replacing the motor or do I need to replace the motor? Thank you for your insights.

Hello Paul.   A Tune-Up Kit contains parts for the Super Pump motor replacement, no motor bearings  GOKIT3   The Century Motors UST1202 is the replacement for the K48M2N111.   UST1202   Increasing motor noise results from bearing wear.  Brief tutorials on the subject of bearing replacement.  Replace Bearings   Replace Bearings 2  Replacement bearings  Front 203   Rear 204
